got to try out my new home-made solid stainless ski pylon and it worked wonderfully. Popped me out of the water faster on takeoff, and I was able to get little 1-2' airs and jump from the wake to half-way to the other wake. I can probably do better with some practice. I would like to be able to eventually get from one wake to over the other one.

Also got to show off my new SEADOOFORUM.COM decals:hurray::hurray::hurray:

itss taken care of.... sorry bout that.

scoop. how much weight did you have in the boat when you were gettin the 1-2 footers?

PICS???

I don't have any kids, and no friends, so when I go wakeboarding, the wife drives, and I ski. So nobody to take pictures.

I do have pics of then new pylon and the SEADOOFORUM.COM decal, though, from other threads...

As for weight in the boat...Well, I have a fishing pole, a wife, 2 anchors and ropes, full tank of gas. 12 pak of diet dr pepper, half gallon each of gatorade and water, and 8lb bag of ice. That is about it.

So not much wake, but I was able to crouch and get a little jump off of it after leaning WAY out, stalling, and letting the slack come out slinging me back toward the wake.

Best I got was lift-off at the right wake, landing around the middle of the chop or maybe just a little to the left of it. I am working to clear the chop and go wake-to-wake.

I need the wife to experiment with the trim to see if we can get more wake in something other than SKI position.

Or make some friends and "use" them as ballast to get more wake! :reddevil:

Should I seat them at the front or rear of the boat for best wake?

typically the back. i have the same problem with finding people to take up space so i had to improvise with bags of water. all better now.

Did you make or purchase the solid pylon? Also, are the pylon's the same in all Sea-Doo boats?

I am "hopefully" purchasing a 2000 challenger tomorrow and the ski-pylon has already been described as a problem w/ bending.

My dad is a machinist and I had him make the stainless one BEFORE I bent the aluminum stock one.

It is pretty easy, and you could probably get any local machine shop to pop one out for you. You could even use your own black top, and just drill the stainless one for the roll pin.

Next time your on your board dont let the rope sling you back to the wake. To get air or Pop off the wake it is more important to have a progressive edge. Meaning go out far turn in twards the wake slowly and increase you attack most important hold the attack angel when going over wake. (you should still be increasing attack angle untill you pop of the wake) If you flatten out you will lose all pop. keep your legs stiff. Have fun hope this helps you get wake to wake.

I only get slack when I go way out to the side and then crank it toward the wake, I come at it so fast that I catch up to some of the rope.

So you are saying to come back at it more slowly so I don't get that slack?

I am hitting the wake with my knees bent and sorta jumping right after I hit it.

Keep in mind that my wake is pretty much nonexistent...

You never want to sling shot (Rope controlling you).. Like previously said Edge out 15-20 ft then stall (flatten out) let the boat catch back up and it should naturally pull you back to center (physics) as you feel the tension begin your progressive edge towards the wake building more and more (stay controlled) as you enter the valley you need to be ready to extend your legs while holding your edge (Push off in a sense) as long as you are 3/4 to fully straight legged you should increase your pop off even a small wake by atleast 1-2 feet.... When you get the feel for it you should be able to clear the wake with a 10 ft edge out...
(Disclaimer--- this works for me... and it may or may not work for you)

How long is your rope, and at what speed are you boarding at ? Just curious

It is a standard sized rope. 70 or 75'. I tend to go fast, around 22-25 mph.

Everyone tells me to slow down, but I like to go fast...

Behind the speedster I usually like 21-24 with about 65 ft... I feel as if that puts me in the best spot on the wake...

the faster you go the smaller the wake will be though, id say try 18-19mph and see where your at on the wake, it may be to wide but you might get a taller wall for practicing... I dunno hell just have fun!

speed is up to you. I person ally would not go over 25. Rope length is alltered only to put you at the best part of the wake. Also Wake ropes have very little stretch compared to a ski rope. No strecth gives more pop.
