Hi all, just resently i became the proud owner of a purple 1997 gts with a rebuilt motor and jet pump for around 1000 dollars. her only problem, so i thought, was the fact the PO could not get her to produce any results when connecting the lanyard. after some reseach and help from scouting the wise advice from this site and the help of my local dealer we found out that the lanyards themselves were bad. so after 75 dollars, plus the 8 that i spent for a life jacket at the local boating supply store, i was on the local lake.
At first she ran great, put new lanyard on post, pulled choke, hit the start button and she fired right up. at this point as i pulled out of the landing and feeling great about the 1000 dollar gamble. and for the first hour as i was riding around the cove by the landing when the beeper, which had been silent so far starts blaring. one single long unintrupted tone.
so not knowing what to do i headed back to the landing. however on the way back in after i got up on plane the beeper stops
. so here is my delima: i have went though about everything. filled oil tank, put in fresh pre-mixed gas( she has a block off plate kit installed by the PO), flushed cooling system and even replaced the beeper. crancked her up in the driveway on the hose and everything was great again the new beeper was working and i was stoked that everything was fixed and running great. however about two hours later same thing.
anyway i'm sorry for the noval but i don't know whats up the operators manuel says that the long tone means over heating however i've searched on this site and followed the advise of feeling the water coming out of the back while flushing and it was "luke warm." i want as far as to pull the seat off and feel the engine componets which i could comforataly touch even when the engine is warm.( i know thats not the smartest thing to do but it costs less to fixed a burned hand than a blown engine). so i'm pretty much clueless so any help would be great. thank you and sorry again for the novel.
