I recently posted that my 96 GTX would accelerate hard then bog or defuel. It was suggested that it was sucking air and probable causes was the fuel petcock and fuel strainer. I temporarily bypassed fuel petcock and it improved a lot but still had a occasional bog at full throttle. I went ahead and installed a new OEM fuel petcock and strainer and am having the exact same symptoms. Accelerates hard then bogs and repeats while holding throttle. Looking for suggestions to look at next.. carbs were rebuilt by sea doo dealer last year. Thanks in advance

Have you tried unplugging the red wire of the voltage regulator/rectifier? If it goes bad it will throw AC back into the system and these skis will act crazy. If your ski has a separate front gray electrical box, it's in there. Find 3 yellow words as the red. Disconnect the red and try it again. You will not be charging your battery while this is disconnected. This is for testing purposes, the fix is a new/used voltage regulator. Personally I would stick with OEM if this is your problem.

Rectifier is new. It is not oem but it did fix the problem when it wouldn't rev above 3k rpm. I will try red wire disconnect next time out but think it's more of an air in fuel line issue as it got better when I bypassed the fuel shutoff

I have a 1996 GTX that I am going through at present. I am trying to figure out a way to pressurize the fuel system so I can do a test. I am new to these skis but it is not my way to replace parts that are working but that said, we need to make sure they are working. :)

Now.... the key here is you do not know what kinda parts the carb rebuilder put into the carbs. I was skeptical about people recommending OEM kits and I now understand why they make that recommendation. It may well be the carbs. I installed an inline filter on my ski and that created problems. Be methodical.

Sounds like a fuel issue to me. Good Luck !! I will be following this thread.

Carbs were rebuilt by a sea doo dealer. I would hope they used OEM.
However, ski has not ran right since and that dealership went out of business. They charged me $800 to rebuild carbs after quoting me $200. When I went to pick up ski they told me they had a hard time getting carbs off due to corrosion and his mechanic broke his tools in doing so. I told him I personally had carbs off the week before with no problems. We argued the price and he took $100 off. He still ripped me off. I had to pay to get ski back. First water test after and ski ran horribly. I didn't trust bringing it back and have been tinkering ever since. I am very mechanically inclined. Just have an issue finding the time.. I will check all vents and see what I come up with. I t just takes time to water test as closest is 45 minutes away.

800!! Good lord man. Take carbs off. Not replacing the fuel lines will just plug the carbs up in do time...(case in point). Want v to say, low at 1 turn, highs at 1.5
