thanks nam,
at least the guy with the two skis is being honest, letting you know both skis need motor work... instead of.." they run great, just need carbs cleaned"...

Does the ski need registration numbers to ride in the ocean? That ski stand for $40 is a steal, you can't come close to building one for that, somebody needs to go pick it up.

yea, you do...I work for the FD on the gulf where I work now, so I work directly with the Marine Police department as well, and this is where I ride anyway, and I'm sure the two boat captains wouldn't bust my chops, but I don't wanna take the risk if the thing is hot or stolen...

Or possibly be a bad example for others. Hope you find something soon.

yea, well, I spent about a good hour on the phone last evening with a guy who runs a performance jetski shop, races standups as a pro, has been in the game for years and builds high performance standups from scratch.
and although he had one for sale, he was real honest and upfront...He told me that the old JS440's and a majority of the 550's tend to take on water through seems and tiny areas over time...Obviously you can put new seals in, etc,. but he said to get a ski, even as a beater for $450-$1,000, I WILL BE putting in time and work soon after...
And, I also found out that if I WERE to pick up an 80's or early 90's JS440 or 550, it would be extremely difficult and not as fun to ride bc I told him I'd be riding in the gulf, and he kinda said that those hulls are ideal for lakes and flat waters bc the hull is VERY narrow... He recommended something like a 650 and up or a Yamaha with the wider hull.
So, maybe I should hold off and save for something better. Those Seadoo 3D's are looking pretty appealing now, as I know those hulls HAVE to be wider than a 440, no?

What do you guys think?

For what it's worth the Seadoo 3Ds started with 787s (05) and weighed just under 600lbs...
Later models (06/07) went to the 951DI and pushed into the low 600 lb range...
(numbers from NADA)....

Looking for a cheap 720 motor in decent condition. If anyone comes acres anything lmk. There's a bunch of skis in the space coast Craig's if anyone happens to be skipping over us.

I'm not going 4-stroke but this one keep getting cheaper and cheaper http://panamacity.craigslist.org/boa/4689932570.html

Check this one out, not sure if I posted it before. The trailer would bring $300 around here http://mobile.craigslist.org/boa/4672306635.html

actually 4K is about right for an older rxp... slightly less if it hasn't been updated and you have a motivated seller.

A seller might get a figure pushing towards 5K if they find the right buyer, but 4K is quickly becoming the line in the sand for anything 06 or older...
