When we tested the 2 ski's, which are 1999 GTX rfi ski's, I asked the owner why water wasn't spraying a stream from the back and was told that yamaha was the one that did that. He also told me that on these ski's, only a small amount of water comes out the rear, but closer to the water line and sprays back or downward. So what's the indicator of proper water flow? Does it have a temp gauge on the digital display? How can I tell if it's getting enough water? thanks Randy

i believe that those would have a temp gauge on the multi-purpose display. other wise at the rear of the ski underneeth the re-boarding grab handle there is a little hole that water "pees" out of. and yes only the yammies make the "roostertail" thingy.
This is just my opinion, but I've always that it was a waste of thrust to shoot a rooster tail up in the air. I think that it's better to direct all thrust through the pump and out the rear of the ski.
The Yamaha rooster tail is for show only, it serves no other purpose.
If you decide to buy a SeaDoo there's a mod. that some of us have made to move the tell tale to a location where you can see it.

Besides that yamaha riders use that to get you wet...I have hunted these pirates down to get next to them to soak them after being sprayed. Have had thoughts of making a garden type hose off of a high pressure 12 v bilge pump to really get revenge.

Seadoo never put the Tell-Tale in a good spot. They either go out the back, or they just don't have one.
Lou asked me to make a fitting that will work well with the seadoo sized hoses. I sell an inexpensive kit with a fitting, and a plug.

It is a good idea to keep an eye on your cooling water, and turning around all the time is a pain in the butt.

The Yamaha water flag is fed via a 1/4" hose from the pressure side of the jet pump. If you are looking for a 10'~15' tail... that's where it needs to feed from.
The fittings Lou had me make up will spray a good 5' when you are on the throttle. I've personally been using mine like a squirt gun. When I'm idling past a buddy... I'll lean over (to point it up) then gas it. It's enough water to be funny. (unlike hitting them with a jet pump blast)

its called a Visibility Spout, and it "is" helpful to know where the ski is at a distance, you can spot the spray, and so can an oncoming boat on the ocean, it is a safety feature.
i can tell from a half mile away if its a yami or a seadoo coming,
i certainly would never move it on my seadoo, heck the first thing I did when I had my yamaha 760 was yank that hose, let it dangle, and never put it back on again.

well, let me clarify, i'm not saying its a bad idea, actually after posting, I clicked the link and looked at the fitting & details, and honestly its really not that bad of an idea at all and possibly after peeking at the web page there, maybe I will do it some day. (I don't see a downside to moving it, except laziness in taking the time to do it)
My original reasoning: its just that I find it pretty easy to look over my shoulder and see it pissing... actually I did think that maybe billet made those piss fittings too (had them on the blasters i think) same idea, move the pisser for easier visibility.
why i disconnected the SPOUT on my yami... (didn't touch the pisser)
it annoyed me, it annoyed my ride buddies, when I was at idle and the wind was at my back, it would spray back on my head... I saw no purpose for it, unless I was planning on riding a LOT of surf, which I don't.
not sure if this was discussed, but technically there are two different things going on with yami..
the visibility spout and the pisser are two different things, at least I think they are, I don't think the spout is a 2nd pisser, its just a spout, with water rerouted thru the pump.. correct me if i'm wrong there.
with seadoo, your really just moving the pisser, not the spout, there is no spout, if you shoot the pisser 'up' then your have a pisser that looks like a spout.

I always look over my shoulder and check it every so often while riding too, but my concern is my wife does not and I thought if I moved it up front I would have a better chance of her keeping an eye on it. Slim chance, but better than none

ya, oddly enough, I had a cooling line clog on me from river debris about 18 months ago on my old yamaha, and even with the pisser up front, i never noticed until I stuck a piston...doh...
honestly, i rarely look over my shoulder and check my pisser, except maybe during the first couple minutes of the ride when heading out from the ramp, i just don't really think of it that much. i probably notice my buddy's more than mine since they're easier to spot.

i saw a 96xp, 99% stock, with two pissers, one on each side up front, a few weeks ago, and actually it occurred to me that running two wasn't really a great idea.
in theory, can't too much pissing be a bad thing ?
