I have always been a two stroke guy and know them well. Now I have moved up to working on 4 tecs and did first engine install. Only problem is every time I put oil in the engine it leaks right out. Cannot figure out why. Took the engine out. Checked things again and all oil leaked out again. I have not installed the drive shaft. Will the oil leak out if drive shaft is not installed?

People need to understand the design before they criticize it. On 2 strokes, you have to grease the pto flywheel/driveshaft interface on a regular basis. With the 4 stroke design, they eliminated this so that was now in a pressurized oil that gets constant flow through a circular channel path. So, better lubrication and no maintenance. However, it does require that the driveshaft must actually be in place.
