Short Story: 23' RXT-X impeller came loose; water intrusion; saved from sinking. Now repairing jet pump; Impeller found to have come off; stayed on shaft when Jet pump removed. (Bad sign) Engine damage? C-clip out per proper procedures; Drive shaft barely moves back; turns tiny bit; but sensation of splines rubbing against other gears (IDF parts); but will not come out of PTO. Plan to pull engine for probable rebuild; but drive shaft not cooperating.
Any ideas beside cutting it off? Can the PTO/ IDF units be dismantled with motor in hull to get drive shaft un-stuck? Suggestions (besides buy a Yamaha? )
