BOMBARDIER-ROTAX Low Ash oil?

Hello.
I'm new owner of Seadoo Speedster 1998. :thumbsup:
Manual says that here can be used only BOMBARDIER-ROTAX oil or low ash.
I'm trying to find an low ash oil. Looks like TC-W3 can kill an engine...:facepalm:
I've found on amazon only Sea-Doo XP-S 2 Stroke Synthetic Oil. Is it correct?
I'm scared. :(

Yes.
Please do a search as there are a number of oils available which arguably meet Seadoo's criteria. There is not consensus on whether other oils are equivalent to Seadoo's own oil but there is enough information that you should be able to make up your own mind about what to buy.

Yes, that's the correct oil, BRP XPS2 full synthetic oil is what you should be using.

On amazon it's 45$, on ebay 50$...
I don't believe that there is no other low ash oil... :-/
 
There are competitive brands, but I would just stay with the original, $45.00 on Amazon is a good price, I get mine from Mosites in Pittsburgh about the same price.

If you change brands you need to drain and replace. Yes you can get other brands for about 1/2 the price. It comes down to what you can get locally and how long do you want to wait if you run out. If you use like 2 gallons a year it is really worth changing oil to another brand? If you have 3 seadoo's like me or 4 since I have a boat with 2 engines.. yes I would come a head changing. For sure I would change until it is time to do maintenance on your oil system. Just wasting good oil unless you don't know whats in there than you need to drain, clean, and choose a brand. The oil debate will keep on going on...
 
I burned 3 gallons this season... I must be slacking. Last year it was 5!

Must be that floating boat thing the wife likes...
 
By me crappy June and 1/2 of July here in Chicagoland we had a slow season. I think I Used like gallon or 2 in my boat my other ski's are pre mix at the moment. I am switch my 95GTX back to injection this winter.
 
At wide open throttle you're burning at about 40:1, lesser speed less oil, and at idle practically nothing. I'm guessing you'll probably average about 75:1 or so. So about 1.5 to 1.7 oz. per gallon, per engine.

We are getting in the area where some folks are considering this "winterizing" thing thus "end of season" sales may be appearing where you can get case lots (3 gallons if I remember right) including shipping for a decent price.

As mentioned above, pick one and stick with it.

Still 90 degrees plus here and no rain.

What about: Lucas Oil 10115 Semi-Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil ?
Clean burning "Smokeless"
Mixes well with gasoline at all temperatures
Meets requirements for "low smoke" oils
Low ash
Suitable for use in air-cooled engines

31$ per gallon on amazon
 
I'm pretty sure that Lucas does not make an API-TC rated oil, and because you have RAVE valves you really should use full synthetic. So the answer is no.

Is the $14 difference between the original BRP oil and another brand not recommended at $31 so important when we consider that a new engine will most likely costs in the thousands? Even with using 5 gallons in a whole summer, the difference is $70.00.

all California and other western states are in severe-dry conditions ... I would welcome a bit of snow now ... or maybe even heavy fog

O.K., I was wrong the Lucas oil meets the JASCO standards (the Japanese equivalent of API-TC), so yes it would be O.K. to use, however it's a synthetic blend so you will probably be cleaning your RAVE valves more often than a pure synthetic.

Search Amsoil / Interceptor and see if anyone around you has it. Motor cycle shops may carry it. Ask them to carry it if they have other Amsoil products. I asked my local shop and he told me they sold a bunch last time I was in. "Thanks for the tip." It pays to use good oil. The oil is cheap insurance against engine damage.

I got all 2-strokes so very limited in finding fresh-water locations ... in San Diego, Mission bay is a good practice area, San Diego harbor is a step up. Of course we have the "big pond" just west, but I will not go there unless pretty calm, confident in my ability, confident in the machine reliability and with a small group. Have not been anywhere for a while.
 
Come to Ohio. We have all kinds of water conditions. From glass to "hold on" wild! Lake Erie's My Favorite, glass to wild in a 2 mile circle. The fishing is good too.
