Should you not touch anything but the starter? Or should you hold the fuel lever open and try to start? Obviously probably shouldn't use the choke. Does one or the other help with not fouling out plugs?
Assuming it's a carb engine, a little throttle is needed... someone please tell my wife that because she just rides the starter and expects it to start... ugh...
If everything is perfect... yes, you should just have to push the starter button. But, as in most things in this world... stuff isn't perfect. I find that I have to crank the engine, and then just crack the throttle, and it will catch.
The method above is what it takes for my Si. My boat will normally start with just the button, and so will my Polaris, and Superjet.
Every ski is a little different, so figure out what your ski needs, and do that.
Yes for sure :agree:, my 96'xp needs just the right throttle, rub the seat a little, talk nice to it, etc. But my others fire right up usually without throttle.
