Hi guys! Well after my daily CL search I came across this ad for a 95 Xp800.... The seller said he was having starting and running issues and didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it so he was selling this cheap with trailer. I couldn't believe my eyes when he sent me the pictures, especially the engine tag! After making the long drive to Quincy, Illinois I'm back home with this baby! What do you guys think? Lookin for some info on the aftermarket parts it has... Like what Factory pipe is that? Anything special about the carbs? The pump an nozzle? All kinds of goodies on this thing... Any knowledge anyone has on these parts would be awesome... What do y'all think? And here's the kicker...... Only paid $550 and a case of beer

What do you need to know?

Its got R&D trim tabs, R&D nozzle, Oddessey sponsons, R&D milled head, Butch head cover, Factory Spec 1 pipe, BRM carbs...

You stole that thing...even if the engine was rusted solid its a score!

Ha that's a lot of what I wanted to know right there!! Never seen those sponsons either so thanks for that ...Wasn't sure if that was a spec one or two pipe... Also didn't know what the significance of those FRM carbs were.... They say mikuni on the side so it had me confused... Especially seeing that fuel pump, Like how they compared to novi/buckshot? Looks like a team butch intake they are on as well? Wonder what kind of compression I could expect with that head? Also is that factory pipe worth switching to my 96 or is it a tuning nightmare?

No not yet... I usually would never buy a ski without checking, but this was such a good deal I didn't really care lol... I wanted to do all of that today but I got called in to work I need to buy another guage to get an accurate reading. The guy I bought it from said it had 152 in each hole this summer... That would be awesome #s if that's not a high compression head on there... Plannin on pullin it off tomorrow and checking out the pistons and seeing if that head has domes in it or what.... Lol if you remember my comp guage hangs up at 130 so it's not much help

I know! That's the sad part lol... If it's not gonna be a nice gain I won't switch it... All I know is it ain't stayin on the 95, or the carbs either for that matter... Thought of switching the head and pipe to my 96 but don't want to compromise the reliability, maybe someone else will chime in with some info on it, and maybe those crazy carbs too lol

OMG! What a score!!!! I say get her running and try it!!!! See how fast all these goodies make it!

Ha thanks man! Got pretty lucky that's for sure!! And that was a thought as well... Gotta find out a lil more about these carbs so I know what to look for on rebuilding them... If I can get the carbs in good shape I'll have to see how fast she goes!! Ill just move all the aftermarket stuff to my 96 and take this one back to original

Carbs almost always start from stock mikunis. I dont know much about FRMs maybe matt can chime in. External fuel pump instead of on the carb.

The pipe is good but you really need everything to get some real feel power. Check the comression R&D made 180 and 200 psi heads.

Awesome! thanks you guys! And thanks nick, was really considering keeping the pipe and head if I could make some decent power with it.... Will it be worth the power with just the head and pipe or are the carbs a must have for the power? Also should that head be pump gas safe? And thanks Reynolds, maybe Braley will chime in lol

Just remember, once you start adding power, reliability goes down. These skis are already about maxed out from the factory and adding go fast parts to an 18 year old engine and pistons might make a "boom". Remember the phrase about jet skis...

Cheap. Reliable. Fast..... Pick two, and you will not get the 3rd. Lol
