ANTI-RATTLE KIT--Is it a must?

96 Challenger, old pump had the anti rattle kit, my rebuilt one does not. The noise is definitely noticable. This winter I will be going through the boat, is it necessary to have the anti rattle for any bearing wear reasons?

Waste....

It's a waste of money. The anti rattle kit will wear in after a month or so, then your rattle will be back again.

The rattle is because there is no pressure on your thrust bearing. When you put it in the water, the impeller pushes agains't the water, creating torque on that thrust bearing, so that's why you don't hear it rattle...

No, it's a waste of money..........
