Hi all, i just purchased a 98 speedster, ive taken out a couple of times and sometimes its fine and other times it just keeps powering off, i took key out and back in and off i go for 5or 10 minutes until it happens again. before i could do that but now when i put key in it beeps once and nothing happens. i had key tested and dess post and they were both fine. its driving me crazy... HELP PLEASE

Fuel Related

It's probably fuel related. I would first check to see if you have the original grey fuel lines. If you do these need to be replaced, after time they deterioate and form a green goo. You will also need to change or clean, the main fuel filter, fuel selector valve, carb. filters, and probably overhaul the carbs.

I won't go into a lot of details as there are already plenty of threads on this subject. I don't know that much about boats, but I am assuming the fuel system is similar to PWC's. You might also want to post this on the boat forum.

The post is bad. When it starts to go... It is an intermittent problem, and it will check OK, until it happens again.

why the mpem?

If you have an extra seadoo, remove the dess post from it, or borrow a buddy's dess.

I have checked everything, i plugged my mpem to my friends seadoo(same model) and the same thing happened.
My mpem is not reading my key.

Can somebody help...

What do u mean eraser...

A pencil eraser.

Sometimes, the contacts in the key, or the post get a corrosion film on them, and they become intermittent. Rubbing a pencil eraser on the post, and in the key... sometimes helps being them back to life.

I have tried a new key and a new dess post, still no good. Where can i pick up a 2nd hand computer or new, but new is very expensive...

I had to buy an mpem last year, dont go with used, you dont know what you will get. I paid 1500 for mine, try ebay first. It has to be the same number as your old mpem, cannot use a different mpem.
