Your The Man !!!! Thanks for the Info because for my rebuild thread I am going to do this. On that link you sent me, is this the color (SATIN SUMPTUOS PURPLE 85025?)

Yes that is the stuff, I would have preferred gloss or high gloss, but that is what the Seadoo lube will be for, cheap gloss. If you lay it down right it looks real nice. I consider myself a master of the rattle can! You really have to pay attention to the "build up" of the paint. And you can't clear it. I did a test piece with the Valspar purple and the Valspar clear coat. The clear broke down the purple and "thinned" it out and reflowed it.

Also when you did the caps on the exhaust, was it fora particular reason ? fro the previous owner on mine part of where it is tac welded.....I guess te exhause started to break, but it looks like they used Jb Weld and its been holding up for far.

Yes, on the under side of the pipe the bottom welch plug usually rots out first, the water just collects in there and sits. Mine was rotted and covered with some type of resin(can be seen earlier in this thread). I've heard guys use JB Weld and have good results. I believe in fixing it right the first time, and that to me is grinding off the old ones and welding on new ones, I also have the resources to do that. Now, when I ground off the bad one I did the upper one on the underside of the pipe. The upper one didn't need to be replaced it was perfect all the way through, so because of that I opted to not do the ones on the upper side of the pipe.

Fluid film is sold at all john deere dealers or on the net. They will send you free samples too.

I'll check it out, I have to get some parts for some prevenative maintenance over the winter for my riding mower. They might not carry it, they've "changed" over the years to cater more to the pretty homeowner, not to the farmer. I use to love going in as a kid with my dad to get parts for the farm tractors and and balers. It's really clean inside now, not dusty like the old days.

As did I...grew up on a hobby farm myself. Loved going to the JD dealer cause of the toys and the brochures...

yes, i think you can find it on the net for like $12 a can, seems expensive but I swear it will last you forever, a quick squirt and you don't have to think about it again for a long long time, great for stuff around the house too, hinges, squeaky doors, etc.

MORE PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!! Also a little Before and After! Getting closer, still time to get on the water. Sorry for the cell phone pics.

All in all this is a great restore, and after seeing the before and after, i'll retract my purple puking emoticon since I now understand what you were trying to do, and I approve. Nice work sir.

you built this to sell and not keep ?

Thanks Spim, I'm not the type of guy who takes things personally, everyone is entitled to their opinion--even on colors.:D

I'm building this to keep without a doubt, my son said he wanted to ride on a Seadoo so I bought this a week later, I already had an 89 SP and an 91 XP. That was just my excuse to get a 96 again. The prices up here that guys "ASK" for 96 XP's is redonkulous, so that is why I set out to build a 96 XP, ALL FRESH and ALL OEM (as much as I can) for the the asking prices here, be it with or without a trailer. I just couldn't go out on the water and wonder when it was going to grenade. To be honest I couldn't lay off the throttle when I dunked my first 96 in the water. I think I lasted about an hour of putting around and from there on out the throttle and handgrip were best of friends. Now on this one, yeah I'm probably not going that route.

BS...you'll have it taped to the bars again...thats how they like to be ridden.

Yeah you might be right. Maybe I'll last two hours this time.

yes, I had to retract my color remarks once I saw the before/after, you see that and you say yes to the color scheme. when i'm wrong I say I'm wrong :)

Thanks A lot, I am going to give it a go.....even though I am far from a master or the rattle can. It sukcs not having the resources anymore ever since I stopped working as a Tech and moved to a diff career field. It sure is nice when you have everything you need.

Where do you get your Seadoo Lube?

I bought a bunch a while back. But now I'm almost out and I'll buy it from SHSpowersports.com It's part# 293600016 and right now I have a code for free shipping, so it $9.60 with free shipping, that was the cheapest I could find it. Even the XPS-II oil is dirt cheap there. Sabrtooth bought a bunch of oil there and I think got the free shipping deal on that. The oil is almost $20 cheaper a gallon then my local dealer and the free shipping/no sales tax makes it better yet.

Where you at in SNJ? I see tea water (brakish) in your avatar?

Your awesome man I def would like that coupon code if you wouldn't mind, just PM it to me. I always shop for the best deals and wait to pull the plug unless I need something ASAP . I am near Cherry Hill, Nj. That is the Delaware River near Penns Landing on the Philadelphia Side. Brackish water isn't even the word to describe it. I can't even count how many time I had to jump off my ski, pull the lanyard, and stick my hand in the intake and prop to pull all the SH*T out. It's local and 5 minutes from my house, so when I need to do test runs there to make sure my ski is functioning properly before I take it South to the Jersey Beaches.

I live outside Philly. The Rancocas is one of my favorite places to rip, been riding the Delaware since the early 90's. There is nothing wrong with that water, some say it's dirty, doesn't bother me one bit, just gotta watch those lily pads and plastic bags. I put in at Neshaminy up near the Burlington Bristol bridge. This year I haven't been there once, I only took the Speedster to Ocean City to my parents and put in at Corson's Inlet, got the season pass for the ramp, I love it down there. The family and I took a ride up to Atlantic City from O.C. I like to crank it up in the inter-coastal waterways. Like riding a bike through those narrow canals:thumbsup:

That video is sick. Did you buy a specific helmet for you video feed or just customize one. By the way thanks alot for the advise on the medium slip material on the jettrim seat. My buddy got the carbon fiber, and that stuff tears up your legs but looks great

I work up in Burlington , I know the area a little bit, but not where you talking about. I know the Delaware is nice out there though around like Riverside, Delran, Lumberton, Medford....but near me over in Glouster under the Ben Franklin Bridge an near the Navy Yard it is like a compost pile for trash. its real bad out there and dirty as F**k !!! I drive out to National Park where that picture is Taken on the Boat Beach AKA sandbar. Corsons Inlet is a go to spot. They just started charging there to put your boat in the water. BTW BEASLEYS POINT SEADOO IS THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN EVER TAKE YOUR BOAT FOR SERVICE. WHEN I HEAR THEIR HORROR STORIES IT MAKES ME :banghead:

HA, I only deal with Beesleys when I need something that day desperatly, and only when I'm at my parents place, I'm the only one who touches my stuff anyway. The year before they started charging for the ramp(corsons) I made the local shore paper pulling my Speedster out. They interviewed me about the charge per dunk. It wasn't bad @ $10, then I bought the season pass for $50, I easily used the ramp more than 5 times. Now for an out of state resident(they go by your liscense AND trailer registration) it's $80!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I just make sure I go at least 8 times. Not to mention the ramp ain't steep enough, and the D-bags that fish off the bridge IN THE F'ING CHANNEL!!! I have ripped a few lines down, screamed at the chinstraps on the bridge. I mean it's pretty hard to see a .030 thick line in the sun, in the channel until it's too late. I always tell my son to use his head and NEVER fish off a bridge cause you run the risk of ripping the mouth off a fish, especially a throwback. Sorry that crap drives me nuts when I see guys do that.

If you roll up 130 you cross the Rancocas by the old shady marina and the WaWa.

Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!! them A**HOLES fishing off the Bridge :rant::rant: I wasnt aware they did that out of state B/s....thats dumb !!!! go figure though its the shore and the biggest attraction across a couple states so they can do whatever they please.

You did an awesome job restoring that. I was wondering if you updated the fuel tank before you put the motor back in? Seadoo has a recall on those tanks. I dont know if you were aware of the recall, the neck of the tank splits and a few people have actually blown the seat right off the machine while starting them. I am taking 2 xps to a stealership today to get them swapped out. A new tank inside that hull and it will like it did in 1996.

Thanks for the compliment, almost finished! Nope no new tank, I knew about the tanks splitting. What does the dealer need to verify, just a HIN number? I could always pop the engine back out. Is there a revised part# on the tank I could check? Thanks JSG
