Manolocross, I really like those mats too but in black or something. Are your graphics the monster skin?

They are the "ripper" set... Awesome quality at a great price and yes blacktip makes them in black. They are the wishbone pattern. Love the shark logo.

Yeah I was checking them out too. I really dig the monster skin. My kids would think it was bad azz. If they could do it in the 96 XP graphic layout I'd probably be on board. Plenty of time for the ginger bread. Always nice to spitball ideas though. You never know what else is out there.

speaking of spitballing idea's ,
can you run me thru your flywheel treatment there, what did you do to make it so purty.

I used this stuff called Evaporust. It's really good shiz. It's not nasty chemicals either which is amazing. You can buy it at Horror Freight, Tractor Supply etc.... I use to pay about $20 a gallon. I put the fly wheel in a bed pan(don't ask, it's not mine and I don't know how I got it) and cover it, this stuff will evaporate if not covered, it must be submerged. I let it sit for a day and pull it up then with a small wire brush just brush the gunk off. Then let it ride another day, brush it off with a tooth brush, swish it around and hose it off with the garden hose. That will get all the heavy stuff, then I hit it in the bead blaster. Then rattle canned it with some Duplicolor High performance Wheel paint (HWP101) Silver---almost the exact match for the OEM metallic silver on the silver engines. And your good to go. I started using it when I restored/rebuilt my Honda three wheeler. You can use it on Carbs etc... I've pretty much put everything in it. My neighbor did a motor cycle gas tank that was rusty and nasty inside, then we put the Kreem liner in it. I actually rehabbed a pair of cylinders for an old sled I was working on that had real light surface rust, so I submerged em', washed em' and dingle berried them, looked like I just got them back from the machine shop.

I was checking out some of Doc's work and it looks real good. I found these guys, they look to have some graphics
( http://www.exoticsigns.com/ ) that I could mimic the OEM colors, just hard to part with the ducketts for them. The OEM were a 4 color print and the Exotic is a 3 color print---I know, I'm nuts. Believe it or not, the OEM's would be cheaper, if available. For now, she's going to be Mello Yello.

That's who I'm going to go with for my semi resto project. It'll be expensive but best I can find close toOEM.

Friday afternoon update:

Engine is complete, I'm actually going to run the oil injection, I figured I will consume more gas/oil in this versus the Speedster. Actually taped off the oil lines before I painted them like the factory with the "sight lines"
Got the engine installed loosely for now, need to dig out my alignment tool. It was amazing in how off the rear mounts were from the factory, or at least prior to me. The engine was untouched other than a starter at one point, so I assume the mounts were never touched. The hoist on the trolley makes the engine install a snap. Hope to get the exhaust done next week, order the carb rebuild kits, receive some parts I ordered, order the seat material and some small odds and ends. I still have time to get it in the water this year!

Great Job, Also !!! I like the BlackTip Mats with the wishbone style. I just had WCSS send me samples and I was wondering how it would look. I cant wait to start posting pics on my Seadoo Resto Project

The electronics in the XP were open when I bought it and nothing but a grey bowl a spaghetti and the rear e-box was into as well. I also never tested them due to the engine being roached and I feared the most that I'd need an MPEM and the DC-CDI box. Well, they are in and with some pics/questions to El Toro for verification, I have it cranking over and spark!!! Now I need to get this exhaust and the carbs done. Still not all warm and fuzzy about the DESS post/key but it works. Installed the new beeper from Radio Shack today, the OEM unit would work when tested on the battery but not with the short pulses from the MPEM. It was very nice to hear the BEEP BEEP today, put a smile on my face for sure.

Insane! Motor looks great, and oil lines are a nice looking touch. Sadly I think on my XP for simplicity I'll be running premix.

Ihave a few questions for you fr my restro thread. I am not going to pull the motor to clean out the hull because it isnt really really bad I would say on a dirtyness level its about a 5 out of 10. What did you use to clean everything and get such great results? The only thing I (Might) do is take the Cylinder cover off and have it powdercoated seadoo purple. Any tipsyou can give me for cleaning, lmk Thanks!!!

I used Castrol Super Clean avaliable at your local Walmart and a spray bottle. You need to be careful with getting it on any painted surface, but you might be able to get away with Greased Lightning from Lowes Home Improvement. There is another one I use can't remember the name right now but that one and the GL from Lowes will not hurt any painted surface. Any citrius based cleaner will do you good. Personally I would not Powder Coat a head cover--and I do my own powder coating. If one area starts to oxidize it's gonna look like chit, and that is not easy to re-strip, stick with paint.

To add to Dan`s info, I use Marine Spray 9 on everything! awesome stuff...

another good product for hull crud is ZEP, that can be found at Homodepot...

Alright just an update I'm getting closer. Got the exhaust all blasted and repainted and 2/3's installed still waiting to finish the head pipe. Carb kits are on order. Checked out the VTS and that works but the gauge doesn't. I have an old clean gauge from my previous 96's that I'm going to install, I don't need to see the gauge go up and down right now. I never posted pics of it buffed out in my thread but have posted them is some other threads. I know, I know purple is hideous, but it's correct for for the resto and I like it. Seat material is on the ordering block in the next few days. I rebuilt the water control valve, I had an extra from my Speedster that was new, but I noticed that the spring was longer on the Speedster so I just used the XP spring but used the internals from the Speedster WCV. Got a few goodies from Minnetonka4me. Gotta give thanks to El Toro for finding the close match for the original purple paint:thumbsup:
