96 xp questions

Hi every one!
new around here but not new to the world of seadoo
I have a 96 xp 787 that has been dead for a while now, before i got it. it had a spark issue and then the starter died, the starter problem is not an issue but the ski has upgraded everything (i mean everything! so this is why i am so confussed with this) it has an MSD enhancer and coil, a new msd coil was bought (not by me) and it says it is a 6v coil is this correct??

It's hard to say. The MSD system was a sand alone system. As I recall, it was a 12v system... but they may have had a low voltage system for racers. Your best bet is to get the part number off the MSD, and contact the company directly.

I know it's not the answer you wanted to hear... but it will be the fastest way to a correct answer.

Well thats gonna be a tough one to find, its not typically the coil. There should be a white wire somewhere in the back ebox maybe. Find it and put a test light on that and ground and crank it. If no spark its typically the pickup inside the mag housing is broke off or the small ground wire is not hooked to the battery.

thanks for the replys. i spent all day on it and tested every single wire and plug and found a hundred and one problems but it now runs like new, thanks again

yeah will do,
i put it in the sea today and it ran excellent for about 5mins then apparently it has a leak from the cooling intake so it had half filled the hull with water so it started miss firing but now it had dried it is fine again so i have to figure out what im gunna do with that but otherwise it ran spot on.
