'95 XP800 - Whats it worth?

I would take the 96 xp, you know the electronics are good. If they both need motors that is the route I would go. Plus parts are easier to get, steering cable, drive shaft, pump extension, pump studs. If those break it will cost you more for the 95 they are all longer. And the 95 has the carrier seal and not the carbon ring. All in all they are both good. Plus no pink on the bottom. That is gelcoat not a decal.

Unfortunately I did not test for a spark on the '96  and can only guess that the '95 will not spark because someone had the MPEM open. I could get lucky on whichever I go with and discover the PO was chasing the wrong problem, and neither have spark problems. They both have gray fuel lines, which is where I would have started my troubleshooting (assuming the '95 was not locked up until it was cranked excessively trying to start it).

It seems likely that the '96 only needs a top end job, whereas the '95 probably needs a complete rebuild... or it could break loose with a few squirts of oil in each cyl, who knows.

At the risk of getting questioned about my manhood, the pink does not bother me :) Kinda unique.

I suppose there is no way to know for sure which is the best decision. If I go with the '95 and things go my way, it will be a bit more of a conversation piece, but if it does not go my way, it will be a bigger PITA to get parts.

The carrier seal vs carbon ring is an interesting observation. I'll have to do some research on whether that could be a reason to gravitate toward the '96.
