Is it possible to ruin a engine "951" doing premix with Amsoil Interceptor at 50:1?? Some say 40:1, some say 50:1 but Amsoil is a great oil... my engine did bent a connecting rod and shattered the cylinder but the sleeves are intact!! Can someone explain al least something here, right now I am in the dumbness!!

Hi,

It doesn't matter so much the brand of the oil as long as it's API-TC rated, also in your ski you should be using full synthetic. That being said the oil ratio is 40:1.

I can't say if your engine damage was caused by lack of lubrication, but if you are running your ski full throttle (which requires maximum lubrication) the 50:1 mix would certainly contribute to the engine failure.

If your cyl walls and piston skirts show no damage, and your crank bearings don't look over heated... then the oil wasn't the problem. (But I would still run 40:1)

A bent rod could happen because the rod was bad... the thrust bearings wen't set right... or you got a mouth full of water, and hydro-locked at speed.

i don't know about the 951's but my 787 hx runs great on 50:1 the stock oil pump at wot only runs 50:1 so why would it be different by premixing it. btw i have about 31hrs on a new motor. and only 1 tank was at 36:1 for break in.

The stock oil pump was supplying 40:1 at full throttle, on your 720. (that is seadoo's target) at idle, it was closer to 75:1.

Got any pics of your engien swap? I'd like to see how you stuffed an 800 into the HX hull. If you do... please start a new thread. I'm sure there are a bunch of guys here who would like a conversion thread.
