2006 RXT. 36hrs oped in salt water.
New spark plugs and SC oil and coolant change.
Fresh water test run and SC break in. Top speed 67.

Problem:
Squeal from aft at around 6000 cruse. Slow take off.
Ran from idle to full throttle and hit rem limiter 8050, it just spun.
Inspected impeller and found some dents on the blades.

I have read other posts. Correct me if I am wrong.
#1. Pull the pump housing. Straight out the impeller and replace wear ring.

#2. Question on greasing under the spinner cover? Could not find anything on lubing the spinner cover in shop manual. Is the bearing a sealed and different from the old 2 strokes. XPS grease?
I have read in other posts to lube this. I also have a 2004 RXP. Please advise.

Did the grease in the cone have any evidence of moisture? If so I'm guessing you have a shot pump bearing. That will cause your symptoms.

I am just about to disassemble it. Looking for what to do and look for from our forum's Seadoo whisperers. And what not to do. What is equal to Seadoo's lubes that will come up?? Thanks in advance.

There are whisperers here?

LOL. No? .........

Can air also (Maybe rarely) be drawn from the engine compartment by the impeller shaft? Or would there be water leaking into the hull while non op in the water??

I use synthetic grease in the nose come. Seems to do the job just fine so far. I've been using it for 4 seasons now and no issues.

Carbon seal failure is a possibility. Will allow water into hull at the same time letting air bubbles into tunnel at speed. The screeching noise....constant above 6K? You check that pump yet for more than just prop wear? Might have an alignment issue...which will cause all kinds of symptoms.

Alignment issues can cause a mess. Broken motor mounts will misalign EVERYTHING. I've seen misalignment do so much damage that it can sink a ski if it isn't caught in time. Here's a video of what a broken motor mount can do:

Update.
Removed impeller cover, no moisture. Remove pump housing and disassembled. Impeller leading edges where bent over. I reconditioned the blades. The grease was looking dried out. I left the bearing assembly alone. Replaced the grease at the fwd cover area. The bearing was tight with no play. Reassembled.
Thank you for the insight, guys!

:driving: ready to go!

no offense here...."you reconditioned the blades"?

pics?

An oem impeller isn't expensive...neither is a 14/17 solas. As for grease....I've been using the cheap marine grade stuff on my pump and also my wheel bearings on my trailer since the beginning. Usually one tube a year is good for me. 'Course...I run w/o a nose cone...so...I check my pump cone after every day in fresh water.

Took off the flat parts on the edge. Won't be as good as a new one, but will be ok. Solas ($300 w/ wear ring) chart shows 13/18 unmodified 215 RXT. The cone/impeller cover is installed.

Ah hell....I didn't mean brand new. :)

Check the classifieds, here and elsewhere. All kinds of deals out there. Trust me on this...with a bit of air intake work...the 215 will spin a 14/17. Mine...for whatever reason would do so from the get go. Mine happened to be all over the limiter even in the heat of summer.

Only good clean used impeller was listed for $200. All the others were the same as mine. I'll play with it for a while and see.
