Hey everyone from Canada! i'm a proud owner of my first boat, a 2005 Seadoo Utopia 205 that runs beautifully. i've taken it out multiple times and have had no issues....however; I just took it into get winterized and noticed the metal plate under the jet is attached by two bolts, and they are becoming brittle and falling apart......

I took it to my local seadoo dealer, and they said once the trim plate goes I need a new jet.....its never....atleast with me hit the bottom or a rock, so not sure why the metal is becoming brittle and chipping out. (see photos)

1. is this a critical problem?
2. parts available? fixes?

How does one fix this. or is this a loss cause.....(i do have access to a welder.....)

thanks again!

You have definitely had a hard hit to the ride plate. Looking from the side, you can see the bend "at the 90º bend". It has displaced the ride plate which broke the bosses. It is serious in that you could have a total loss of control.

Step 1. Remove and straighten ride plate. While it is off, inspect the holes where the front of the ride plate attaches. Are the screws still there or sheared off? I think they are M6 with Torx drive. Any bent screws need to be replaced.

Step 2. Make (or have made) 2 rings that will fit snugly around the bosses on the stator. Re-install all the ride plate bolts with the RP for alignment purposes. Study how the aft bolts go up thru the RP. Remove the RP and re-install the aft bolts with the rings in place. Is your weldor and welder capable of heli-arc? Weld it up.

Alternate method: BOAT. Buy another stator. About $1000. BTW, come spring, you may need to spend the other part of that BOAT on new steering and shift cable and rubber bellows. They (bellows) are supposed to be replaced every year.
