Lake mead is dropping because when they set up the selling of the water from lake mead, the data they used to determine expected future inflows were from a very wet period, so in average years they sell more water than comes into the lake, and only break even when it is very wet. They have promised x amount of water to cities and farms, and somehow can't get away from it.
Speaking of fake lakes, look at lake Las Vegas. They pump water from mead, which runs into the lake, out through the dam, and back into mead. No joke, a completely fake lake, very Las Vegas.

One of the reasons I dispise Vegas. From the minute we landed everything was fake. Disney level fake, but without any fun. We drove out to lake havasu city. Much more desert like. The lake was built but drive a few miles and the whole state is like a big off-road park.
I believe that ban of Lake Mead started in 2003 on paper and said in 10 years no 2 stroke, so you had at least that amount of time to figure what to do. I have a 1998 gtx ltd that I said oh crap will I still have the ski. I did think about it for those 10 years and said screw I will keep it and just ride in Laughlin to Havasu. Next on my list is a boat because I can't justify the 10 - 15k on a ski, plus I have a family now. Lake Pleasant in az also allows 2 strokes so I can ride there as well.
The days of the two-stroke are indeed limited. Sad, because of how a two-stroke delivers power. For example, I've had two Lawn-Boy two-stroke mowers in my life and countless 4-stroke. The old two-stroke Lawn Boy mowers are just incredibly powerful, nothing in the four stroke mower world can touch them (cube for cube). The majority of the ATVs and motorcycles I've owned (and there have been many) have been two strokes.
I guess I can understand how lakes that supply drinking water to cities have an interest in keeping hydrocarbons out, but as far as the whole global climate change thing goes, our engines...two or four stroke...contribute very little to the problem. Factories and especially coal-fired power plants emissions make cars and trucks emissions negligible. Let alone natural events like volcano eruptions, lol!

^lol! Reminds me of a post I was reading on one of the pickup truck forums...a guy had a highly modified 700 hp, 1350 ft./lbs torque engine in his F-250, and was able to modify fuel injection ratios with his on-board ECU, so when sitting next to a Prius or Insight or Volt or one of the other 'green' cars, he'd crank it up and leave the car in a FOG of diesel smoke...
Anyone remember one of these? It's a lot of fun to grab a hand full of throttle in front of a Prius. They stay way back because of the smoke.
Oh yeah I've had one of those Kawi triples. I've had a Yami RD 350 also.
