title kinda says it i got on the jetski today to go for a spin to the local retraunt and grab a burgar(better than driving) and the peg/lanyard is having an odd conection what can cause this. if i put it on and spon it it makes a good conection till it bounces a bit than it will only rev to 5k than if i hold throttle and play with the peg/lanyard it will make a solid conection and about throw me off..

any tips or advice?

this also makes starting an issue as ill hit the star button and it will not hit all the way than die off sometimes it will click 3 times fast(starter) but not long enough to fire.. sometimes it will start but usually have to play with it

i decided to stay home and cook lunch didnt want to get stranded on the dock.

help:( man this ski is a never ending project.. i just want to get on it and ride its bone stock with a replaced motor end of last season) things should be in good order.

You can clean it with some baking soda. (it's lightly abrasive) Clean inside the lanyard too. BUT... the post can go bad. Inside of it... there is a small magnetic switch... and it can go out.

I replaced the post on my 97 XP last Friday. Part was $92. Not a big deal to change - 30 minutes or so. Make sure you have some waterproof connections to splice the 3 wires in the handlebars. You do not need a new key, and no programing is necessary.

where can you buy the post?
glad to hear i wont have to get a new key or reprogram anything...
got a link to there you ordered the post?
