1996 Seadoo GTX Question

I have a question regarding my seadoo gtx. Yesterday I used my seadoo gtx, I put it in the water and when I put the throttle up it started vibrating and didn't have hardly any power. But like 3 minutes after that it was fine. Today I took it out and the vibrating and power loss was repetitive. I took it back to the lift and found a zip lock bag half way in the intake, and I took it out. But I don't think it sucked it up yesterday.

I'd say you found the problem, no sense chasing ghosts unless it does it again.

I would be shocked if you still have an issue. The smallest thing in the pump area creates issues.

The issue still persists, the first 20 minutes of me taking it out the issue was kind-of still repetitive and seemed to vibrate like crazy; and would loose power going over 2000 RPMs, but anything under 2000 RPMs was completely fine. Finally the jet ski was completely fine for about 3 hours. Anyone know what this could be? I'm loosing sleep over it.

PS. I checked all inside of the jet pump area, I don't see anything that is out of place. (Impeller is fine, Wear Ring Looks good).

Well,,, if there is nothing in the impeller area, you will likely need to pull the pump and look for a bearing issue and or a bent shaft.

Carbs stopped up? Was it sitting along time before you put it in the water when it started to screw up?

No I took it up to a lake about 3 weeks before I put it in and used it, and it worked fine that weekend I used it. Not sure where this problem came up.

Just pull off the pump. Then take off the cone cape and drain out the oil. It needs to be done anyway if you have not changed the oil Then just spin the pump over by hand. It should be nice and smooth. I bet you find something stuck in there when you pull it off. Of a bad bearing. The oil should be black and smell bad. Not gray or milky.

It's really not a good idea to leave a Seadoo in the water except when you are using it. It should either be left on a lift, a trailer or a jet dock. If water leaks past the carbon seal you could have much bigger problems.

I always leave it on the lift.

I'm actually thinking this might be a rectifier issue. Seems that way to me with it clearing out and running fine
