Is it even worth fixing?

Got this 1996 seadoo gtx that's been sitting for free with title. Was told water got inside it and fried the rear box, rewired the box and got it power to the starter which is free and engaging but I didn't have spark so upon further inspection the water got into the rotor/magento/trigger coil area. Am I just wasting time on this thing or should I put some money into it 1000010457.jpg1000010456.jpg

Do the compression first, don't waste time and money if it isn't a good engine. I would try cleaning up all the rust to see if there is any real damage. To me it looks like surface rust and not too bad.

If the stator ohms out ok and the trigger coil is good, it’s possible that the rust is stopping thr trigger coil from picking sending the signal? Once you have it back together check the gap from trigger coil. I believe it’s supposed to be 12mm
