I'm considering offering $1500 for a 1997 GTI and single F.E. trailer. The Seadoo only has 20 hours on it. It needs the carburetor cleaned and the fuel system flushed. Plus a new battery. The hull is flawless. Just a little gel coat rubbed off of the keel. Seat covers are original and perfect. The trailer is painted white. It has some rust spots popping up but overall in excellent condition. It has the 4.80 x 12 tires/rims. No storage box, or spare. The seller is asking $2000 but it seems a little high considering that it doesn't even run. I'm thinking of throwing a battery in it and doing a compression check before closing the deal. Any input as far as price is appreciated and any suggestions before turning it over is appreciated. c good

I find it very hard to believe that a 14yr. old ski has 20hrs. of use. Was it driven only on Sundays by a little old lady going to Church?

That's 2 or 3 weekends use. Before I bought it I would take it to a dealer and find the actual time on the ski, check compression, see if it will start, take it for a ride.

Has the ski been in storage, if so for how long? Sometime its worse for a ski to be in storage than to be run, seals dry out etc.

It's a great price if its all the owner says it is, but I just want you to be aware of the pitfalls.

$1500 to $2000 would be the going price for it. Hours are not even relevant when the ski is that age. Actually, low hours will be worse since everything will be rotten internally, and there has been minimal maintenance.

If it needs the work you are saying... I'm going to assume it won't start. If that is the case... then it may only be worth $1000. (sorry, I just reread you post again, and you said it wouldn't run) Since it won't run... he won't get $2k for it. As I already said... it's only worth $2k if it runs.

I wouldn't touch it unless I could at least get a compression number off of it.

Just my 2 cents.

If you cant do a compression test you have to pay assuming its a completely worthless motor.

I sold a 96 last fall with a used motor, but everything else was new/rebuilt. I got $1600 w/o trailer but with a cover.

If you can't ride it, The owner wants to take you for a ride, all the way to his Bank.

If you can't ride it, NO sense taking it with you. He's has all winter to polish the turd.

KEEP LOOKKIN

Any ski with problem will show its self with-in 20 minutes of hard riding. Seadoos are meant to be riden Tuff!

I just bought a 96 gti a week ago that sat for a few yrs paid 300.00 for it , had it a week got it running today , going to bring it to the lake sat. For a real test

Let me know how it does. If you need any help let me know, it's the same model I have, I know this ski backward and forwards.

BTW, the ski should top out around 50mph. Mine will do 52 on calm water on a good day. I weight about 165. Its stock with the exception of a R&D intake grate.
