Just cleaned up the pwc after it's winter nap. Charged the battery up and when I put the lanyard on the post I didn't hear any beeps but the display lit up and I could hear what I assume is the fuel pump pressurize in the engine. The craft's maintenance message is on the display as well as a blinking red light but these were also around at the end of the season last year and the craft still operated fine, it just hit 100 hours. When I try to start it gives maybe a quarter to half a crank and then just stops. If I move the lever to reverse or forward and then back to neutral I can then try hitting the start button again but same result, a small crank not really even a full turn it sounds like and then nothing. I've tried cleaning the post and keys and have tried all 3 keys with the same result.

More than likely a bad battery you will need to load test it.
Pull the spark plugs and try to crank...or pull the PTO cover and turn by hand to make sure pump or motor have not rusted.
Report back with findings.

I would always put in a new battery every other year in the RFI and DI skis.. Also don't buy a cheapo from walmart. Get a top of the line.. Voltage is very important on these skis.. When you do a computer code read there is always 30 hits for voltage low or wrong on DI & RFI.
Its not the DESS if the gauges stay on when you put the key on.

OK, the engine doesn't really crank but I'll pull a plug and see if it turns enough to fire the plug, otherwise I'm planning on trying to get my battery load tested tomorrow.

take the plugs out, and turn the motor over by hand. take the gray plastic cover off at the rear and turn the round disc or the driveshaft by hand. this is to see if the motor is stuck causing it not to turn over. if free, crank it over with the plugs out and I'll bet it turns over fine. this all means bad battery, get a new one.

if so, you have a bad ground or weak battery or least likely assuming this problem is new, bad starter.
start with the cheap/free fix, pull the ground and wire brush the cable and connection good, then load test and replace the battery if necessary, if that doesn't solve the issue, a good quality replacement starter.

No, doesn't sound like the one in the video. To begin when he puts the key on the post you can hear the two DESS chirps and I mentioned originally that even though everything else seems to light up I dont get the two beeps. When I do put it in neutral and try to start the engine definitely sounds like it doesn't have enough juice to turn as I can only get barely 1/2 second of it turning and then absolutely nothing.
The battery is at least 4 seasons old possibly 5 so I've already purchased a new one and am waiting while they charge it up. I will report back in after I've installed the new battery.

I wasn't talking about the beeper, those things go out all the time, i was referring to the sound when starting. notice that he could get it to turn over when he "double clicked" the start button. my XP did this even though the battery had plenty of charge and cranked fine once the starter got going. after i replaced the battery it will crank over with the button no problem.
