A friend of mine just sold his 2003 GTX 4tec, near perfect condition, with a cover & karavan trailer for $3600. It had 86 hours on it.
He had it listed for 6 weeks at 4300 without any interest. IT was a very nice machine.

Low hours are a bounus if they are legit & the machine has been serviced, but they are not worth that kind of money on that ski IMO

agree completely...
my 06 gp1300r came with a 40 hour engine, and 3K in mods, for $3500, and it included life jackets, oil, ropes, extra bearing kit for trailer and a bannana boat !

What's a bannana boat? Thought that was sunscreen? ;)

seriously tho, I have heard of it, but not too sure what it is......

That RX is really nice and a great deal. I don't think the GTX guy in the original post is going to get more than 3500 for it. Probably why it has been sitting for so long.

The original owner of my ski paid 5 grand for it 13 years ago he said.

Nope... not worth it.

As above... you can get a newer, "Modern" ski, that's in good shape for that price.

Also... a very low hr ski is almost worse than a high hr ski. The reason is...

1) water sits, and rusts the internals.

2) The fuel and oils break-down, and casue issues.

3) All the seals will be dried out.

Yes... it's very pretty... but there is a high probability of BAD running issues after an hour or 2 of use.

used 5 hours is still used. Lower hours may mean a slightly higher price but I hate when i see people wanting crazy high prices because it is low hours....its still used regardless. I would look for a newer 4 stroke if you have 5 grand to spend.

It is ironic that low hours makes something worth more and yet can be very detrimental to the life of the engine.

If you are still interested. I would explain your concerns of the low hours an make a deal based on being able to ride it for at least two hours.

Kicker is. You need to frail and refill everything even before the test ride.

its in a big huge tub. my plan was to fill it up w/air, take a pic, sell it asap. I have absolutely no need for a bananna boat lol

I'm with Griz.

If no water test then no buy,,,

Even an honest mistake at that point can be very costly.

If I was selling something for 5k I would at least do a water test so the buyer knows its in working order, is like selling an old car but not letting you drive it but I can idle the car on the drive way. Just my .02 cents.

Hummmm....

If it's in good shape, and you have an aprox price you are looking for... PM me with details. I keep thinking I want one, but I'm not sure it will be good for the kids to play on.

used 5 hours is still used................

Yep.

On top if what I posted before... once you use it for a season, or two... then it's going to be worth $2k. So... if you are going to take a $3k depreciation... buy new.

If you take your $5k... and buy a 4-tec... and use it for a couple years... since it's newer, you will only take a $1500 loss. (basically, in 2 years, it will still be worth more)

Like others have stated, it's a good buy if you're starting a SeaDoo museum or you want to park it in the living room and use it for a conversation piece. But if you plan on using it no.
