That is what the local place quoted me... Is there any cheaper route?

as I said, clean it up while the mpem is being shipped, see how well it cleans up, start with the hull, some pressure washing, some wet sanding in spots, see how it looks, when the 'puter coes back, see if you can get it to run, if it does, and you want to do a quick sale, then put some lipstick on the pig and post it on craigslist. (hull and hood will clean up surprisingly well with a few hours of work and the right combination of chemicals) we've covered that in a few threads but we can touch on it again.
otherwise, strip that puppy down, and sell of the spare parts that aren't needed for the challenger to get money for things that ARE needed for the challenger.
One of our members found one that looked just like that but had no title, I bought it dirt cheap, pulled the engine/computer/carbs, he put the top end on his broken down xp, I re-keyed the computer, sold it and the carbs, yanked the gauges, put the old engine together for a $150 core then sold the hull for $10. everybody was a winner.
you can easily yank $600=800 worth of parts out of that puppy (including stator/pump too) assuming the engine isn't totally shot, and the computer pulls a road runner. (beep beep)
it might seem like i'm promoting a part out, but i'm not, because if its just a matter of a cosmetic clean, a good key, drain the fuel tank and put some fresh gas in there, and you've got a $1200 ski on craigslist and you can take the first $900 offer you get and be happy. If you were going to keep it then you talking more effort, fuel lines, carb clean/rebuild, pump inspection/rebuild, etc...
