From all the time I have chatted with all you aussies and outrageous prices I would say thats an ok deal. Its a 96, not a 97 or 98. Doesnt look all that bad. Pipe being welded is normal.

Guy,

1996GSX in Oz for 1500.00 is an O.K. deal. Check the engine hours, you can read it on the Multi-Gauge. You should be able to get 400 hrs. before a rebuild, see if it's less than 200 hrs. also check the compression, ideal is 150 psi, but it needs to be 140 plus.

The cosmetic condition looks O.K., I bought one a 96GSX about 1-1/2 years ago, for $800.00, it had 74hrs. good compression but looked like crap, here's what it looks like now. Mechanically all it needed was a voltage regulator.

Lou

Cool, Well i found another GSX. For some wired reason its got the same or similar problem. Crank or bearings failure!!! Can't be turned over to check compression. Seller wants $500 for ski and trailer:p
This is a much better deal i think as compared to the above gsx that was all original, this one has hydro turf, had the starter and wear ring replaced, seat and body looks in better cond with less fading. hard to tell from pics tho. apparently the last time it was at the shop it had 66hrs and that was no too long before it failed... but i can't be sure because the gauge isn't working... Weird!!

The seller also tells me that it been bored 20 out. is that big? can i still go bigger or is that the max and a need new bores?

Also, I really wanted a x-4 hull. but say i rebuilt this gsx with all the good stuff i can afford. Would i then be able to swap the motor and main accessories into a x-4 hull if i find a cheap one?

The cylinders just depend on if there is damage or not. Over .20 and you have to start trimming the rave valves to keep them from clipping the piston rings.

that GSX won't have a 780... or does that year?

I have a 951 GSX and it... MOVES. lol. wicked / scary fast fun ski. Similar to the X4 in that regard, but bigger tank + actually holding 2 people..

the GSX is a good hull.

The first year of the GSX was 96 and it had a 787 in it. The 97 did as well until 97.5 where you could get a GSXL with a 951.

Hey guys,

I have found a ski. Only thing its not the engine i wanted!!! I bought another 720 xp!! Lol. Aussie price was cheap and i could not resist.. Was maintained by an older guy. Stock std, with mods like sponsons and intake grate. Magically, all the elec gauges and even the vts still works!!! lol.

But then i came across a 800 that was sold for only a $400 more..., I was SO devastated. Anyway i took it out, great fun, works fine and the girlfriend loves it:)
Will keep it for a while and sell it before summer ends so i get the money back to hopefully this time find a x-4 800:D

Thx for all the info guys..

That black and yellow one with the carbon fiber double gauge hood is awesome! I love the look but that hood is seriously valuable.

Yeah i love it too, lucky score..., i came across it on a ski that was getting parted. Only thing its been well used and now has some cracks, stress marks and fractures that i try to glue/fix before it gets worst:)

Came across those two 99 spx in the local classified. They look quite different, Different seats etc But they are priced quite high

The yellow one look much newer nicer.. Is there any differences? just so i know for when looking out for one in the future?

Thx

The seller stated it was 99 but they where quite different. The yellow one is nice but the seller whats to many gold bars for it!!!!

The teal SPX is a 96' and it only has the 717 motor. They aren't worth nearly as much as the 99 SPX.

Hey guys,

Came across this baby for sale here. Its in the eastern states but looks great. Thinking of getting it if its still for sale in the next few months as i don't have enough funds at the moment.
On wired thing is its says and from the pics a carbon fiber hull. is that possible? Were they ever made like that?

Pics, does anyone know what it is? Is it a special edition one?

That is full on X4 porn! Overt your eyes and wallets!

That is a Westcoast Performance Products ful on race ski. They made those hulls in the 1990's out of carbon and kevlar and looks like a custom engine as well. I would be surprised if anything on that ski is stock. If it is in your price range it would be an awesome ski to have but with that much work done on the engine you better get a full time mechanic because it will take a lot of work to keep it running. Your best bet if you could get it at a good price is to build a more reliable engine for it and just use the bolt on parts. But YES that is an awesome ski.
