well i would have got my carbs today but the mail lady decided to come earlier than usual and i missed her..i thought she would have left it on my step..(they usually do) oh well i guess i'll get them on monday...

how do you know? did she leave the little slip in your mailbox or something??
happy b-day by the way...:cheers::cheers:

well i got the carbs in..thanks.....

the pump body on the one you sent me is a little thicker than mine, and also it has a in/out valve on the side,(like a hose connection) whereas mine does not..what is that for. can i just block it off and use it like that? every thing else looks the same..besides for being a little thicker.. i was thinking i'll just change the plastic piece and try mine.

oh and i cant do any work on it right now because its storming outside...

i dont think you can use it...i would wait for someone else to respond...see what they say..like if it was a little thicker, you could use the longer screws i gave you? not sure man..so, u can use the plastic piece, the filter(s) but your pump body was damaged right? was it leaking?

yes i put the little round plastic disc in mine. i put the litle filter in.

my fuel pump doesn't leak external but maybe internal. im not sure how it works....the fuel pump that is...

and as far as the other 96 sx i went and took a look at it. it looks really nice it got and odomoter and mirrors and some other gauge...its missing one of the parts that go to the white electric box next to the gas t ank........its something that has a plastic connecter with three prongs in it..

if your talking in front of the motor, where the mag housing is, thats the grounding posts for the spark plugs...or are you talking about to the left of the gas tank if you were sitting on the ski? thats the MPEM box..take some pics...are you buying it or no? and did you get yours running yet? how bout that tornado last night?

the valve on the side of the carbs is for the fuel pump vacuum line. only the really old seadoos have external fuel pumps, everything else has an internal fuel pump that connects to the motor by a vacuum pulse hose.

yea he's got like a 92 sp, and i sent him two carbs from a 96 spx hoping he could use some of the parts, like the micro filters, plastic, etc.

yea they had a tornado touch down just 20 minutes away from here. but we're all good no damage..

and for the 96 it the one thats next to the gas tank.. there's a bunch of wire in there but they're not connected.. and there's one connecter in there that is plastic and has 3 prongs in it. but its not connected to anything. maybe the piece that it goes to is what it needs...everything else looks fine..and the spark plug coil is located in the rear of the seadoo and is in a black box....that one i think is fine...

and i dont know if i'm gonna buy it because he's saying something like 400 for that one....

and i'm working on mine as we speak...here's a question..

the inlet nipple on the carb lets me blow in but not suck it back.......this is good right???
ok the return nipple on the carb lets me blow in and suck it out.......this is bad right????will this cause it not to run????

not too sure..ocod and others know ALOT more bout carbs...i just clean them and rebuild them...i'd wait a lil bit for a response on that one

Did you send him one of the dual carbs??
I know I had an extra nipple underneath the throttle arm.
Just block one.

i sent him both...so, hopefully he can figure something out...
oscar, i'll get up with you tomorrow to work out the trailer deal.

Yes, either block that one or the other inlet on other side.
If you don't get fuel to carb then switch inlets...

ok well i tried just to change the plastic disc inside....put the screen and tried it................nothing..im gonna have to use the bigger pump body.... gas is getting to the carb but i dont think its enough..very little comes out when i pulled off the inlet hose... plan 2.. i really didnt want to used 96's fuel pump body because i'm scared i'll break the little black rubber things when i put the plastic disc in it.. but i have to try now...i'll update tomorow.....

Did you try swapping inlets?
Those check valves should not be cause of problems i think??
You wont get a rush of fuel when you disconnect hose from inlet.
Try putting another hose on each inlet and blow throw ea one to make sure path clear.
The in and other inlet will blow fuel out.

no i used my pump body..it only has one inlet....and its the one on bottom (when looking from top of engine)..i'll put the other pump body on tomorow(the one for dual carb).. its something in there because everytime i put some fuel in the carb it'll start right up....and the fuel filter is full of gas also..

Oscar, you need to go to this kid's house bro....get this $h*t over with, once and for all...lol...
Miamiboy, or Clewistonboy......take some pics so we can try and figure this thing out for you...

Oscar, i didnt think of this, but, if he just put one whole carb together from my two carbs, can he just completely replace his with mine? i know he may have an extra outlet bc of the dual carb setup, but maybe he can block it off? my carbs werent in the best of shape, but im pretty sure if he took parts from both, he could make one good one...would that work?
OH MY GOD!!!!
Miamiboy...do you have the damn throttle cable/spring hooked up? that would make it start when you put gas down the throat, but not regular..(I mean i think you can get it to idle, but not if the carb is choked off completely either)

Oscar and Miamiboy..give each other your address and get together to solve this thing like 96 said.....172 posts

Or just buy a new one or two.

well miami, i was thinkin, if you cant get this thing to go, you probably ARE better off just buying like a GOOD USED GUARANTEED carb off ebay or something for probably less than $100...you gotta realize sometimes that the time and effort and energy you're expending on this thing is not worth just getting another one...let us know whats going on..and post some pickies

I'm not sure anymore what the problem is :p
I just look at the carb spec for the 587. In the later years the engine went to the larger 147.50 that may help.
Get one of old main jets 125 and use dremel and 1/8" drill bit to make it bigger. If it works better than order larger jet.
I don't think check valves are the problem but I'm no expert.
He never reported if he has compression. Nothing will work if piston has a hole in it or compression not optimum.........

sorry i never did a compression test because i'm pretty sure its good. it was running the first day......

maybe the engine didn't have enought time to build enough pressure to send the gas to the carb..the battery died after like 3 or 4 minutes of cranking...it didn't have much charge...i will try again tomorow with a fully charged battery....maybe i can get it goin..

what about them two low and high mixing screws on the side of the carb..should this be screwed all the way in since im not using the oil injection? there's one screw with like a T head and the other is just small and round...how should they be set..(i took them out and cleaned it up..i didn't find any garbage anywhere in the carb...

and they all looked fine.. i think it just didnt have time to make the gas to the carb..due to dead battery...
