Just got the boat a few months ago. Never really liked how the keel say on the roller, not much weight. And the roller always produced some red gel coat on it (have taken the boat out only 4 times now).

Today I decided to take the roller out, and to. My surprise the gel coat deep to it is damaged

Any suggestions as to whether I need to reposition the winch? Please note the position of the boat (<"1 of the bunks extends past the end of the boat)

I ordered this based on the reviews online :
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B003D2Q0V0/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will compare it to my current roller before installing it

Thanks!

I don't think there is much you can do to prevent roller damage, looks rather minimal to me. Possibly a very high quality roller will help, stoltz roller? Some people put a stainless steel cover made for just that issue. If it were me I would not worry too much about the roller damage but that's me. I am very picky about things and how my boat looks but sometimes there just isn't anything you can do.

I agree GB387. Par for the course when you trailer. I installed the same yellow roller as you posted. It helped some, but still leaves marks.

I have a 210 and for some reason when I put it on the trailer the eye is above the roller till I pull the truck up then the boat is about 3ft back on the trailer. I'm thinking I maybe in a little deep with the trailer but I'm doing it like I did my 2 other boats that were stern drives. Do these boats sit lower in the trailer that I need to be out some more? I know when taking it off I have to go deeper or she won't budge
