I replaced the old 1100 lbs trailer winch with a similar sized one but different brand. The new one fits in same holes, but the winch arm is longer. It’s only about 1” longer than the old one, so I used the old one.

The new arm is about 1” longer and hits the boat when winding. Doesn’t make sense. I noticed that I could lift the roller bracket one position which will lift the roller about 1.5”. I think it would also push the boat back a bit.

Any issue keeping the shorter arm? It does get a bit tight when strapping in but it’s manageable.

I would keep the shorter arm as that is what you originally had. Changing the position of the arm and roller will have an effect on how it sits on the trailer. If the boat is back farther on the trailer, the back straps will most likely rub the boat.

Looks like the old winch was wound incorrectly as well but you have it right on the new one. (You don't want the strap rubbing on a hard edge like it was.)
