HI.. IM an owner of a 1997 seadoo.. great unit. son always ran it. I never watched.. i just got on it. But last time in water, the craft would accellerate when gripped the throttle.. but wont go anywhere.. water doesnt shoot out the back anymore.. it revves.. but dont anywhere. Whats wrong with it.?

Welcome to the seadoo forum Lora Lee.It sounds like it needs a wear ring replaced. If the gap between the impeller and the wear ring is too big in the jet pump, it won't have much thrust and loose water pressure, causing it to rev up and not go anywhere.

thank you Karl.. Ive had some semi experts tell me its the drive shaft or fly wheel or both.. by holding on the shaft and it not spinning.. Could this be true, and if so, what am I looking at as far as expenses go???

I sent you a PM. if you have experts tell you a flywheel or drive shaft is bad find a new mechanic to look at it. It is very unlikely that is the problem from what you described.

To better help you out you need to add more information about your seadoo you own like what model? Look at my avatar for an example.

I've actually seen PTOs/driveshafts with completely stripped splines that exhibit what is being described. Granted my first thought is the wear ring is toast but it might be the driveshaft and/or PTO. If the splines on the PTO or forward end of the driveshaft are buggered up then you'll most likely have to replace both the PTO and the driveshaft.

With the seat off, look at the driveshaft and see if it spins with the engine as it revs up. If it doesn't...shut it off and don't run it until it has been repaired. If it spins then take a look at the wear ring.

I agree. I've actually had to replace broken driveshafts before.

If the experts could hold the drive shaft and it would not spinn when the pto flywheel was turned as you have described then I would have to say that the expert is correct.
:agree:
