Where to buy Seadoo HX manual trim for my XP?

As the title states I would like to get rid of the problematic VTS system on my 96' XP and convert to the HX's manual trim adjustment. I sort of understand the how-to of the job but if anyone has done this please chime in! Also if anyone has, or knows where to purchase a used HX trim adjustment that info would be appreciated. I am located near Toronto if that helps.

However once your in the water it is hard to adjust. I'm a 190lbs. with good balance but I still have to stop and reach back getting my arm wet up a little past my elbow to turn the knob. Then my scattered self is trying to remember which way is up or down(in or out). I also cracked it because I put it over a R&D nozzle who's bolt hole area was not flat like stock. Well, like I said "it works great" most of those problems are mine.(ha-ha)

Ya I see one on ebay for $270+, seems more than a bit over priced, VTS would cost me $150 shipped. I'm in Toronto, guess I should find a dealer that can sell me one. I believe that the HX trim set up is a new nozzle along with the adjuster? Send me a pic if you have one, or post one on here. Anyone got one for me?

i think i paid like $15 for mine, and it works terrifically, if you haven't seen how it works, a pic might help if you want me to take one
the pump and trim are pretty much the only thing that haven't been taken out of my hull right now ...

oh, and yes, its a major pain in the butt when on the water, and I also always forget which way is up/down when i'm upside down, but so far i haven't fallen off the back yet... eventually I will

edit, give me 10 minutes i'll post a pic and i'll pass the word with some of my regular sellers and see if they have one, this should be definitely reasonable, there's not that much to it

You've got a few different options, you could do what I did on my 96XP, pop the cover, remove the motor, 4 bolts, set the screw drive about half way, remount the motor and forget it.

You could test the motor, touch the leads to a 12v. battery. If it's the control module you can buy a trim fix.

Or you could buy a used one, try PM'ing minnetonka4me I'm sure he would have a working used one, he's very fair.

I don't think you want one from an HX because as Matt it's hard enough riding the ski at full throttle and trying to adjust the manual trim at the same time.

essentially that little dial is a screw that moves the nozzle up/down, its actually a very simple little mechanical device

I appreciate all the input and help guys. I am the kind of person that would appreciate the ability to adjust the trim slightly depending on the conditions, worse comes to worse I will "set it and forget it" but I would really like to add the manual trim from the HX or I will bite the bullet and risk the VTS blowing on another VTS unit. Definitely helps wrap my head around what it would look like on the XP, how did you go about plugging the hole in the hull from the VTS unit?

well, technically you don't have to, unless you remove the unit. my vts is still in my ski.
as far as adjusting on the fly vs adjusting after stopping is really a matter of personal preference, the manual trim certainly has its setbacks...
with vts if your cruising along at mid trim and a big 40ft cruiser comes along, you can pop the button and you've just moved your trim, you can adjust on the fly, with a manual I only move it when its a boring day and I decide to act like a donkey jumping around, otherwise its a hair off the middle all the time.

really that all depends on the type of rider, rec or hard core, if your hard core then ya, you need trim, if your the 95% of us average weekend dudes out having a good time then trim set just off the middle is just fine & dandy, and then a manual trim makes sense, MUCH less likely to break, so its a one & done job and one less thing that will anger you.

Spim, mine looks a little different, I never knew there were variations on the bracket. You are rockin the R&D also, I guess you didn't crack yours.

I sent e-mails out to almost every authorized Seadoo dealer in Ontario, we'll see if anyone has the part. The trouble I ran into with the first guy who got back to me was that he wanted the part number, by the looks of it the component is made up of a lot of parts and different part numbers.

Just ordered one locally, used but in good shape. Did either of you guys plug up the hole in the hull with anything? I'm sure I could figure out something with a little imagination.

Cool idea, I am curious to know what people are charging for this trim setup and I would like to know the part numbers in case I go this route myself.

I priced a good complete used VTS unit on the forums for about $200. Seemed a bit expensive for my riding style.

Isn't Florida Classified post 2362 is a pic of the bilge plug in the VTS hole?

yes, the lower left is the bilge plug,,, cost like $6 at ace hardware...

the going rate is around $50ish +ship for the manual trim. I've purchased 4 of them over the years I've paid $40 and i've paid $60, but usually around $50 just depends on if there are a few for sale or not, they don't pop up that often.
