What would you like to see in the next SeaDoo PWC?

Must people like to complain on this thread it seems, but they don't justify why what they dislike is BS. Not very mature if you ask me. Also, must of the guys that complains have an old PWC (they probably don't earn enough money to get something else than an old piece of junk), and how can we know for sure that they tried newer models?

Try living in Australia when a 2011 Wake Pro retails for $21990 on trailer, dam import duty....but on another note I purchased a 2011 Wake Pro 215 and it is the best ski, fun in the surf (yer it's big and heavy just grow some aggots and hit it harder) smooth on the water takes me anywhere and does it with a skier on the ski pole. I absolutely love the new lineup for 2012 well done SEADOO

Stop complaining about 2 strokes and realise that there are other brands if you can't handle real ski's!

I challenge seadoo to recreate the original jet ski concept: a jet powered water craft that weights less than 500lbs. It's all about the weight people, I mean, the handling back then used to actually rely on how you threw your weight around. I think that matters a lot less when the craft weighs 800-1000lbs. 500lbs, can they do it?

Hello All,

BRP constantly works to improve their product each year. From Braking systems, to suspension, to electronic throttle control, Sea-Doo is no doubt are on the cutting edge.

With that said, what would you like to see on the next SeaDoo PWC? What would you add (or subtract) to the design?

How about bow lights (red/green) and a TELESCOPING white stern light so we can ride at night??

I'd like to sum up this thread by saying; I am amazed at the diverse age grouping herein, requiring varied models and options that BRP has been successful in satisfying, up to this point and am happy that Sea Doo is using this forum to gather some customer feedback for future models.
I would like to have a OEM stereo and navigation / docking lights, as optional equipment and realize that some states may frown upon pwc’s going 70 mph at night.

i would like seadoo to improve engine compartment design. It is too tight which generate alot of heat, cause more labor cost,and parts fall apart faster. Seadoo need to offer exotic colors such as lamborghini, it boring riding a toy without music and exterior lighting, ice cooler for drinks or food,self diagnostic tool built in.

Reproduce the 2003 4-tech 155 with bare bones electronics @ a decent price! Maybe add a factory trailer combination. The ski is very dependable. great hull design, good performance & good fuel milage! Just needs new plugs & a new battery every 2 years? 50 hours? or whatever.

They would probably sell the crap out of that!

You can have all the "NEW" electronics & braking.....I'm sick of all of it!

I have a silly question. Why the closed loop cooling? Offer a 155hp or even smaller open loop power plant in a smaller hull. Reduce the electronics somewhat and offer the base in a 2 seater.

Well since this has been dug up, and I'm late to the party (as always), I'll throw my 2 pennies in. You want a bigger ski? More room to fish? More stable than your 12 foot already massive party barge you ride on top of? A bunch of lights? Whats next? An automatic toenail clipper and nose hair trimmer? Its a jet ski! Buy a boat! This really makes me sick. I don't know if you'd call me a purist or what, but I agree with Lou, Dr Honda and others in this thread. I looked at new skis, actually considered financing one...until I did my homework. NINE HUNDRED POUNDS on the new skis?! Unreal. You see what I own, nothing fancy, but I can still 360, I get wet, i pull a tube, and if the wake is just right I still get a little air. Why the hell would people not want that? I just bought a 95 XP 2 weeks ago, why you ask? Because my 2 GTX's were TOO BIG and I wanted something more nimble. I won't even mention the absolute ugliness of the new hulls, alien life form much? I will be one of the cats that continues to keep my old 2 strokes running as long as quality companies will sell replacement parts and engines and I'll stockpile as many of the skis as I can feasibly maintain. I realize that 4 strokes are the only option for new skis, but that doesn't mean 500 pounds of electronics and hoopla have to be tacked on it to make it as heavy as a Volkswagen. The only option for me as far as new skis go would be a standup, I'm not looking for a cruise ship with a seat on top. What do I want from Sea-Doo? I want them to listen to Lou and the others I mentioned, offer us a bare bones ski. Minimal weight, minimal electronics, 2 seat, capable of actually getting on top of a wave, not through the middle of it. What do I want? Something that will never happen as long as they can get $12k plus for these barges they produce today. End rant, and have a good day

Totally agree, let's get these things back down to "jet-ski" proportions. you know, below 600lbs like they were originally intended to be? I know we can't build those sweet little two strokes anymore, but we're def. missing the air-borne abilities of the more classic seadoo designs.

Yeah I guess I came off a little harsh on the whole barge situation. I don't care that they make them, just offer us a better option with less weigh and size. Just seems like they keep going further and further in the wrong direction and pushing these huge machines on us

I'd really like to see more fault tolerance or fault notification in the new ski's. For example in a supercharged ski the ecu should recognize the throttle is wide open via TPS, if the engine RPMs are low say 6500 when they should be 7500K+ at WOT for x seconds. Flash a S/C maintaince light or something. This would prevent owners from destroying their engines, and also save BRP warranty work. Also, stick a check valve or something in the exhaust. They (engineers at brp) need to come up with a better system on the exhaust side. Some avenue to completely prevent any fluid from entering engine on exhaust side. Also, machine the mag cover so it can be removed from the engine block without have to remove any engine mounts.

I completely agree but after reading the majority of posts in this thread (and even forum) it seems we are the exception. Everyone wants a mini yacht with all the bells and whistles. All those features are great on a new ski but imagine how many more things will go wrong when the ski gets 15-20 years old. I love how simple the old 2 strokes are, anyone with minimal tools and experience can work on their own boat. I really doubt we'll see anything like the 90's skis in the near future though. The market has definitely shifted. People who complain about skis being unstable or w/e clearly dont have much riding experience and/or skill. That's what makes a ski fun IMO! If i wanted something so stable I could jump on one side and it not flip I would get a boat. Thats like someone complaing a motorcycle is not stable because they didnt balance haha. No offense, but I think fishing from a jetski is absolutely ridiculous. Fish finders, gps, plotters, stereos, blah blah all belong on a boat with the exception of using a GPS to measure a skis performance. I got a chance to ride a RXP-X last summer and it made me grin ear to ear off the line and in top speed but they are just not the same as a small nimble ski. I'll defintiely be keeping my X4s :cheers:

So what would I like to see in 2013? A small nimble affordable ski. I like Docs idea of a small 4 stroke, should be easy to maintain and have good longevity.

I want to see one of your BRP 300 hp e-techs in a ski. Lightweight, fast, simple (without all the creature comforts like brakes or suspension) and best of all not as crazy expensive like the new ones are.

what would be a perfect ski lineup.

although many features like step ladders and gps gizmos and things are great, they have a time and a place. if youre cruising the ocean you need them. if you ride agressively you need the ladder, but the GPS is unnecessary for many customers. i agree a basic ski should be added to the lineup, but where have all the standups gone?

i really want to see an affordable standup ski with a 2 stroke and a basic kill switch. where has the fun gone? maybe a glovebox big enough for a cell phone, a can of pop and a pb+j sammich. some power in it would be well appreciated, but 100hp is entirely overkill.


a basic hull with 2-3 seats and a 135hp 4tec engine would be great. convert it from closed loop cooling, keep the mirrors, gps, step ladders, tachometer, security systems, etc on the side for orderable add-ons. they need more parts to be interchangeable with simpler counterparts. this can yield a lighter ski with better spinout capabilities and more "fun factor"

for a mid-line, put the step ladder and everything for cruising small lakes. leave it light enough for a 185hp gtx engine to push it and make it a 2/3 seater as well. maybe a gps speedometer as an option, but not factory equipped.

seadoo already holds the best top of the line muscle ski in my book

basically they need to be more focused on cost to make than profit margin made per unit. move more cheap units, yield higher profits. have options for add-ons.

Why hasn't anyone thought about a retractable rope in the nose? It could extend out about 15ft and have a hook on the end. You could use that hook for your small anchor or docking. It should be operable without having to exit the ski.

I have to agree, the new Sea Doo's are to big. 2 seaters used to rule the market and I think they still would, back in the late 90's a 3 seater looked out of place. My first Sea Doo was a 98 GSX Limited and when you went out on the water it was fun. When my wife and I went Sea Doo shopping this year we decided to buy one new machine because we could fit me, her and my two kids on it. Also the price is not affordable to buy two so I am looking around for a 98 GSX that I can possibly buy and rebuild in order to have a family machine and a fun get wet machine.
If Sea Doo made a GS style 2 seater with a much shorter hull, no brakes or reverse, nothing fancy at a reasonable price we would have bought 2 brand new machines this year.
Just my 2 cents...and the customer is always right.
