I am not sure if you have Costco in your area but they always start stocking nice neoprene ones about this time of year. Usually name brand and $39 if I remember correctly.

I just bought this ONeill PFD $39 from Overton's http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Mens-ONeill-Nylon-Vest&i=16924 . It was just delivered earlier this week. It has the loop to connect the lanyard and I like the belts so they can be better adjusted to my :ahem: mature frame.

The HO http://www.overtons.com/modperl/pro...-Mens-BioLite-Hinge-Flex-Life-Jacket&i=841948
is zippered and has a really good flex hinge in the back, almost like a little lumbar support. For me, I thought the zipper up all day would be stifling in the Georgia heat in the summer. On sale: $49.99 vs 79.99.

Get a good neoprene PFD, I have a couple of Nautica, 4 buckle, offers good flotation and impact resistance, this is not something you want to cut corners, get the best PFD you can afford.

I like to use a neoprene nest for everything BUT riding PWC's, especially stand ups. For PWC's I use to use a nylon vest from JetTribe or Jet pilot.

For standups I defiantly use my old Slippery pull over vest. They have extra thick chest padding for when the handpole punches you in the chest and larger arm openings for more arm freedom

For cruising it is neoprene but I have some friends that are allergic to them. Go figure.
