What is the best size fenders for the speedsters??

Well after my last time out with the boat I am definately investing in fenders.. the dock was all over the place and my boat almost got caught under it as it came crashing back down.. thanksfully the boat is light enough to just push aways from the dock.. but anyway.. what is a good size fender for the speedsters... i know our boats are shapped a little weird so using 3 is a must.. i was thinking of getting the "stretchy" rope that seadoo offers and just tying 3 fenders onto that and keeping it stored till im ready to dock... just wondering what you guys are using.. thanks

I agree with its all about placement. The "stretchy" Sea Doo docking ropes are awesome. Luckily my boat came with 3 of them. I use them to tie it up most the time and they are the best. They are like 30 bucks a piece though. I have found a cheap version at Bass Pro and Dicks both for like 12 bucks each.

The size isn't all that important but the placement is. I use four small fenders. You can easily clip one to the center of each cleat by simply using a straight gate carabiner (climber's clip) which you can buy anywhere for a few bucks. For the others you can either buy fender locks which require drilling small holes or use the suction cup type fender locks. I use one between the two cleats and one near the swim platform. Works great and all the fenders go on and come off in less than a minute. I store them in the ski locker as they're waterproof. If you use the suction cup fender holders be sure to wipe off any water before sticking them on or they will slide off. If dry and not mounted on a decal they hold great.

I picked up 3 curved fenders at Gander mountain. They were designed for a boat with a low freeboard hight.

I paid $17.99 each at the store. (they were $24.99 on line)


They work great. I have them strung on a rope... and I can quickly loop it on the rear kleet, and string it to the front. (quick and easy) Even on a busy river... my boat was untouched after we stopped for lunch.

Since they are curved... if the boat slips under a floating dock... it will still give you a little bump protection.

Good ol' Overtons sells a curved bumper, almost an 'L' shape. Works great!
