So I will give you as much info as I can about this ski. I think it needs a carb kit but you call it. I bought a 94 seadoo xp from a friends cousin and he said it ran great but had been sitting a year or so. So a friend and I went over there and got it running and I bought it. Took it out to the lake and it was starving for fuel so I went home and pulled the carbs with some friends and cleaned them. Stuck them back on and it fired up. Went to the lake to have a bolt fall into the motor. Pulled motor apart and fixed by a new rotary valve and retimed it. Took to the lake and got it on the water.. It would go great then slow down... then go really good then slowed down. Like a carb problem. THEN ANOTHER BOLT FELL IN MOTOR!!! :cuss: I just fixed it once again and took to the lake. but know its doing the same thing as the first time. Runs great on land then bogs down in water. If you spray so starting fluid in one of the carbs while in water, Its jumps up and wants to go so It must be the carbs. Where should I get a kit from and what kit? its the 657X motor. carbs are off now. maybe a better cleaning?

Here is a link to SBT for your model seadoo. About halfway down is the carb rebuild kit. You will need to purchase two of them since you have dual carbs.

It certainly sounds like you have a fuel delivery issue. I can't say for sure that it is definitely because you need a carb rebuild, but if it has not had one for some time, you will want to do it anyway. Be sure you set your carbs to specs from seadoo. You may have to tweek it a little after that but should get you close.

Here is the Mikuni guide for the carbs.

One think to look for is if you have gray fuel lines in your seadoo. If so, you are going to have to change them, as well as a complete fuel system cleaning. They deteriorate on the inside from the ethanol in the gas and clog the system up. Do a search on the forum for more info on this.

Make sure you get Genuine Mikuni kits. The SBT ones are poor quality, the diaphragms and and gaskets don't seal properly.

So what other site would you guys pick? I use SBT parts but if I could get a factory rebuild kit then I'll do that. What kind of carbs are these then?

Yeah, I was under the impression that SBT just sold genuine Mikuni kits. I have always heard to only use genuine.

You can try Seadoosource.com, he sells the genuine kits. Also, I think you can order them from WaterCraft Magic in CA, which is Bill O'Neil's shop. I don't have more info on him right now without looking it up, but you can do that yourself if you want.

You could also try the Parts link above. Not sure if they sell the complete kits or not.

Really, just go google it and you should find lots of places selling original kits (possibly ParkerYamaha, Atlantic Jet Sports, etc.)

So would it be bad to buy the one from sbt? Its hard to spend $110+ on a carb kit that I know probably only cost $5 bucks to make.

Well, according to Chester, they do not always seal properly, and he works on Seadoos for a living. I have also heard from many other anonymous sources that you definitely want to buy a genuine kit.

When you say $110 for a kit, are you saying that is for one kit, or for both kits (you need two kits for a dual carb). I just checked Atlantic Jet Sports (which I mentioned above). They sell the genuine kits for $32.95.

why yuo "rebuilding' them? Possible, all they need are, tore down, cleaned up, and put back together.
