Hey all,

Was changing the jet pump oil this evening, and noticed some scratchy on the wear ring. I don't have the proper tool to measure the gap, but I do have some pics.

Is it time to replace?

Thanks

My general rule of thumb is, if it looks bad enough you have to ask, then yeah it needs it. That looks like it needs it to me. Whats $50 when you already have half the work done.

It looks chewed up enough to go ahead and replace it, if you want you can measure the distance between the impeller and the wear ring with a feeler guage no more than .004". When they get rough like this they need replacing anyway.

Be sure to use an OEM ring.

You have an extra Zero in there. It should be 0.040" (forty thou... not four thou)

As above... it can't hurt to change it. BUT................ if you an't haven't cavitation issues... you don't have to change it. It's up to you.

I just looked at the pics, and in the center pic... your gap is pretty tight. I wouldn't worry about it yet. So, it's a judgment call. I changed the one in my boat when it was tight, but ugly. I didn't need to... but I did.

Once again... it's up to you.

It could be from the prop rubbing out some distortion of a not perfectly round wear ring. The bad ones usually have chunks missing.
