I am mounting a second battery in my boat. I'm putting it on the exact opposite side of the factory battery, in the same position. There is a flat spot where nothing is mounted. That flat spot is where the battery is mounted on the right side, but I'm putting my extra on the left. Will I be safe to drill into the fiberglass there, I'm only putting (4) 3/4" screws there. What is underneath that flat area?
By the way, I'm putting a 27 series deep cycle battery with a Guest 2 battery switch. The Guest switches are only $22 and they're a direct replacement for the stock switch so it will fit the original mounting. It should look stock and I'll have hours and hours of tunes without turning the motor on.
All total, $80 for battery, $20 for 12' of battery cable, $10 for assorted terminals, and $22 for a switch. About $130, total.
