hey guys i found a 787 motor on craigslist from a local pwc repair shop they want 500 for it says it has 160 compression that a good deal? its going into my spx that blew the wrist pin bearings so it should be plug and play

Its a great deal if the motor checks out. Do your own compression test, and inspect everything. Look for missing thrust washers on each side of the rods, look for surface rust on the crank webs (not a deal breaker if its lite or just a bottom edge), if its got the mag all intact pull the front cover and check for water in there.

good call on the warranty ill ask them and try and work out a deal with them.
Nick im assuming i can look in the intake runners or the rotary valve to see the thrust washers? ill def do a comp test with my own tester

hmmm, not a fan of giving up the core, makes me think twice. (although still a much better deal than a rebuild, but no guarantee's... , i assume your looking into that)
makes me wonder if...
a) they are frankensteining engines on the cheap.
b) selling off the core which is worth $150 on its own...

Tell them to extend the warranty in exchange for your core. Minimum 6 months.

ya im not a fan of giving up the core maybe if they will drop the price some more. ive had this thing sitting in my one car garage for 2 years now im really tired of looking at it plus its in the way lol i just want it done

Just got off the phone with the guy said I has about 20hrs on it and the ski got wrecked its a reman from ses or sbt. The shop has a lot of good reviews tomorrow after work gonna go check it out

If he gets close to 400 I could prob Justify giving him the core too. IMO my case would be a pita to rebuild BC it looks like its been in the ocean and not rinsed out. I've snapped a hand full of bolts disassembling the motor but there aren't any holes in the case

OK so I went and looked at the motor has 160 each cyl looks good to me the only hiccup was it has a different output. Mine off the spx has a splined drive shaft but his has like a coupler. Is it possible to swap them?

Hey before you do anything.. You need a big chain wrench to get the 97 off properly. It has to go around the big part or you will wreck it.

Just like Tonka said, a chain wrench and a rope down the spark plug hole and you should be good. The chain wrench I'd probably the worst part.
