Hello all, new to the forum and also have never owned a boat or a PWC.

I recently went kneeboarding for the first time and fell in love with the water sports. I stumbled across a 2003 Speedster for sale with about 100 hours on it.

I went and looked at it today, and found it to be in great shape. The hull looked good, as did the motor and other components. It shows a bit of fading on the gel coat and on the seat upholstery. I looked down under the boat at the impeller and it has some erosion where maybe it ingested some rocks or debris, but nothing too bad.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me somewhat what to look for and what a reasonable price on one of these would be. I believe he wants 7000 for it with the SeaDoo trailer. NADA values the boat at 5900 my bank said.

Water test it for sure. We get members on here weekly who wanna complain about some busted piece of junk they bought. When we ask if they water tested it they say well no. Dont complain when the motor blows in 2 weeks if you didnt check it out.

Test every button and function. While out with it, kill the engine and restart it. Do a compression test. Ask for maintenance records. Lastly, I would offer like $6200 and go from there.

SeaDoo boats always go for more than book, but if they want prime pricing... it better be perfect. No fading, an no damage.

As said by Rfoster, If you are serious, take it for a test ride. A boat can run fine on the trailer, but all the problems will come out once it hits the water.

Finally, since it's a 2003 speedster... it has a Mercury engine. I wouldn't touch the boat personally. They are very reliable, but when they have a problem, it gets VERY expensive, VERY quick. Also, most SeaDoo dealers won't work on them, and most Merc dealers won't either.

If I was looking for a new SeaDoo boat.... I would look for something with Rotax engine(s).

That boat had a Merc in it from 2000 to 2004 I think.

I had my Speedster 200 for 2 weeks and blew the motor. I just got back from 1outboard in PA total cost 5200.00.

Get a compression test done. Any merc dealer can use their diag equip to snap pics of the cylinders and pistons.
