Trailer Bearings

Hi All,

Does anyone know what size bearings and seals the mid 90's 14.5' boat trailer uses? (shorlander)

I want to freshen mine up this season, and I would rather buy them first, and just do it in one sitting... over ripping it apart, measuring, and then buying.

I got a kit at autozone, 12bux both sides, I do not use the squirt caps, I have 4 trailers in my repair business and they all use the same thing. I dip the bearings into a paper coffee cup filled with grease and smoosh it around then use the cup as the install tool to keep my hands mostly grease free.

Thanks for the info... but I'm looking for the size.

I'm assumming they are 1-1/16"... but I figure I would ask first.

Mines a Seadoo trailer.

It uses 1.98" OD with a 1.062 ID. I have a set in the Garage, I'll see if I can come up with a set of numbers tomorrow. Do You have the Model number of the trailer? You might find some info on Shorelanders Web Page.

All these things are the same until you get past 3500 wieght class with 15 inch or brakes.

Greasing technique

Proper greasing technique is: put a blob of grease in your palm. Push the bearing into the grease so it is forced into the gaps. Do this all round the circumference.

Be careful not to over-tighten the axle nut. Technique is: tighten finger-tight. Wobble the wheel. Tighten finger-tight again. Wobble the wheel (it should feel pretty stable at this point). Tightn the nut to the next castellation(hole where cotter pin goes through). Install NEW cotter pin.

Guys....

While I appreciate the input... you are answering a question that wasn't asked.

I own a shop... I know how to change bearings... I'm just too lazy to go measure them, and I'm asking if anyone knows the size. That is all.

I can't assume that "They are all the same"... because they aren't. On a small trailer, bearings can start at 3/4 ID, and go up. Also, some trailers use a larger rear (seal side) bearing than the front. (at the nut)

If you know the size, or the bearing/race nubers... please post them. :cheers:
