Met a guy on the lake today. Awesome boat. 03 yahama 270hp. Only 20 ft. Such a huge difference in cabin size. Rated for 7 but it seems so much larger. think I might start looking for a little bigger boat. :(

You have kind of a goofy boat. the 16.5' seadoo's were only 5 person boats... and the "SK" version of your boat was only 4 passenger. (same as the 14.5' boats)

I'm in the same position as you. I sold the boat in my avitar at the beginning of summer because I want to get a bigger boat. BUT... I'm looking for an Islandia. The 14.5' boat was a good time, and it was basically a big jetski... but I have skis... so I figured I will sell when prices are high... and I'll buy something different when prices drop. (in a couple months)

FYI... the "1800" seadoo boats are 7 passenger... and if you look at the newer 18' boats with the 4-tec engines... they are 8 to 10 passenger.

I almost bought a '10 AR210. They are bad ass boats. But. Only about 47mph top end. my boat dose 65 with 2 people full of gas.

The Yamaha is less money and the motor is way more reliable. I have had to take my boat in a few times. one time, they did not tighten a hose on the cooling system and I had a core meltdown on one of the motors.(good thing the boat is under warranty.). On the Challengers there is allot that can go wrong. Supercharger, Super high output, Closed loop cooling system, Direct injection. That Yamaha has none of that. simple, straight forward, reliable.

I went with BRP, But Yamaha is a good boat.:D

What are you going to do with your speedster?? My brother is looking.........

i dont blame ya on wanting bigger. Im really digging the new 21ft wake edition sea doo. I just cant justify spending $40,000+

check out the 20ft speedster with the 310 HP. They are nice and no supercharger problems. I have seen them go for like 12 to 14 grand.

I just saw one local to me in Modesto, CA for 14k. The guy took 12.5k for it. It was an '07 430hp with tower, Blue. Dry locked all its life. It made me a little pissed knowing what I paid for my boat.

great deal on a nice boat. only problem is the owner doesnt even know what he has. It says 370 HP, it was either 310 NA or 430 Supercharged.

allot of Seadoo or Yamaha "Jet ski Boat" sellers have ZERO clew what they are selling. Challengers labeled as speedster and the other way around. Hp Rating that are wrong. BS about how fast the boat will go. there is a guy not far from me here in CA trying to claim his twin 787 challenger will do 65 with 4 people. HAHAHAHHA! But in all fairness to they guy selling the speedster I just posted the link for. I think they did make a few speedsters that had twin(two) huffed 185hp 4-tec power plants. When I purchased my boat Seadoo had just upped from 215 to 255hp on the supercharged 4-tec.

Hehehe...I'm switching to a Moomba LSV..

No more jet boats for me, these are great starter boats, but once you experience the nicer boats you can't go back.. :drool5:

Yea. The ski boats are sweet but if you live here in Florida you want something that can hit salt water also. Ski boats in the ocean don't finish well.

so lemme get this straght, i only need to carry 5 ppl on my boat max... so a 16.5 would probably be the perfect niche? what motors were available for this size boat and what years?? or was this the challenger that i pretty much overlooked? lol

so Phil, you started your post a few months ago. Whats the verdict? You keeping that sexy boat or jumping for a yamaha.
I was going to buy one before I got my challenger. not as sexy as the seadoo, in my opinion. My Budget limited me to nothing over 7 tho, so as good as a Yamaha is, many were out of my price range, but the challenger, its size, price and versatility was good. I know I do 65 with just me in the boat, not sure when I have 5 ppl though. looking forward to a long summer on the waters of Lake Ontario, Lake Erie and other inland waters with it.
