I understand that. My question i guess is that a good deal or should i just wait more towards summer?
For the time of year... it's an OK deal. The closer you get to summer... the more $$$ they are worth. I see boats like that go for $3200 to $4,000 during the spring time.
The problem is... if you buy the boat now, and don't run it in the water... there is no way of actually telling if it's in good shape. A crap motor will still fire, and run, but once it's put in the water, it may not make enough power to push the boat. Also... things like bad pump bearings, pump seal, driveshaft seals/bearings, and over heating problems can't be seen/felt without a proper water run.
If it were me... and I was thinking of buying the boat now. (while it's cold) I would at minimum do a compression check, check to see if the drive shaft seal pack turns smooth, check the color of the pump oil (water will turn it milky) and check to see if it's charging while the boat is running. You are looking about an hour's worth of time in someone else's garage.
If you are uncomfortable checking those things, you can have a dealer look it over, but that will cost $$$ and if the roads are salty... the owner may not want to take it out. (I couldn't get my boat out of the garage right now, even if I wanted too)
Last thing... don't worry about parts. All the old SeaDoo parts interchange for the drive system... and all the mechanical was made by other people. (Morris cables, Telefex steering, teleflex controls, etc) As long as the fiberglass is good... don't worry about the other stuff.
