I was looking at pwc's and pretty much knew i wanted to stay with either sea doo or yamaha.. preferably sea doo but my dealer is certified in both... anyway..my aunt has one that we are looking into but its in worse condition then i thought..but i have been looking non stop and i think i found a pretty good unit.. it is a 1997 Sea-Doo GTX.. mind you that while looking my spending limit is extremely limited.. with teh purchase of the boat and saving for a house i didnt want to spend much on a pwc.. i just want to grab it basically to have it to mess around with or as an extra toy that a friend can tow when we all go up to the lake.. so my spending limit was preferably in the 1000-1500 range with the ability to go to 3000max if a substantial unit came up... anyway.. i was looking around and found this 1997 Sea-Doo GTX.. The pictures look excellent.. I know that the engine is most important as thats where the problems will be but from the pictures this thing looks show room ready.. it is green which i heard fades extremely but this thing looks new with nothing that stands out.. the guy has all the records for it as far as maintanance goes and is the original owner of the unit.. he is willing to go for a lake run which shows that i doubt he is hiding any problems as i am sure they would come out in a water test.. the only problem is he is asking 2200.. not a huge deal but book on these seems to be 1400-1500.. he is including a trailer and a cover for the unit.. just wondering what you guys think.. I am thinking i will offer 2000 but is that too much for a unit this old?? i mean like i said it looks to be in great condition overall.. and he said all electronics work and everything like that which i have heard of guys saying that electrnoics go bad on these like gauges and whatnot.. just wanted some of your opinions as you guys are more familiar on what these are worth.. thanks for any help...

here is a quick pic of the unit..

If it's clean... and in good running condition... $2000 to $2500 is about right for a ski like that.

The book price on ski's is bad. They don't reflect demand during the summer. (when prices are high)

I always like that model in that color and from the fotos you posted it looks pretty clean. If it were me I would take him up on his offer to head to the lake and really check it out good. Then I would offer say$1700.00 . Never hurts to go low and see where you end up at. Dependending on how the ride at the lake goes of course. Good luck.

Does look very good. I agree with Luts. I would ride it and offer 1700 and work from there.
