Well, luckily, I ran the first tank this season with 50:1 premix. I got into the engine bay and wanted to double-check the allignment on the oil injection pump, and VOILA!!! it was set at about 10-o'clock too lean.
So I set it to about 1-o'clock rich, and will run another tank premixed and see how much it uses. Might run WAY too rich now, but I can lean out the oil pre-mixture by topping off the tank later on.
I have 2 sets of carbs. I clean and rebuild one set during winter, and install them after I pull the boat out of storage. Apparently, the clamp where you hook up the adjusting screw for the oil injector pump is not the same on the two sets of carbs, and when I swapped them out this spring, it dropped the oil injector setting to a bit lean.
The moral of this story, children, is to double check all your settings at the beginning of each season. :hat:
