Thats the "WindJet", pretty cool idea IMO. Like Lou pointed out it has a lot of potential.

There is a guy local to me that has had one of the Single seadoo shuttlecraft sitting in his driveway for years with a yamaha powering it IIRC ... I can't ever remember seeing it move :S

Too bad they didn't put more effort into the styling, that thing is damn ugly.
I hear ya on the wanting one though, it seems like a handy thing to have around. I think docking that thing would be a bitch without reverse.

I saw one in St Joe Bay a few years back and it started my
Interest in seadoos. The guy had his family out on it with a pretty old ski pushing it. They used it as a scallop barged or a while. Then later in the week he would
Just push it out to a sand bar, pop the canopy open and leave the family there while he went out to play on the bay. He said he could go maybe 30 mph loaded so I guess he had a 787. I knew nothing about jet skis then so I don't remember what he had but I really wanted the shutlecraft after watching them on the bay. I would like to find the Sportdeck version for cheap locally but no luck so far.

I hope Doc didn't hear you. LOL

Lou

Lou this is SDF, if i cant bash on Polaris here and show my brand loyalty to Seadoo, then where can I? Lol.

P.S. I do like his RZR tho, I will admit their quads and side x sides are badazz tho...but there is a reason they stopped making skis. Seadoo 1, Polaris 0

Do you want to know why Polaris got out of the PWC market???

1) The economy was down... and sales of PWC in general was WAY down in the early 2000's.

2) For years, they used someone else's engines. (Fuji heavy industry) Obviously, that also cut into the profits. but at the end of 98, they introduced their own engine. (the Domestic engines) That was a GREAT engine. Probably more reliable than any of the Rotax engines. But... in 2003~2004 Kawi and Seadoo both got into the 4-stroke market. So... Polaris brought out the MX ski, with a Webber turbo charged 4-stroke. (so, back to someone else's engine) But, in 2005... Kawi, and Seadoo turned up the pressure, and were both putting out over 200 HP. At that point... Polaris was tired of chasing the other guys. And because of #1 above... they were ready to pull out.

3) This was the "Straw that broke the camels back".... They lost a HUGE law suite because a woman got her rectum ripped out from the jet nozzle.

They were actually advertising 2005 models... but then pulled the plug.

I hate getting into the debate... but in a lot of ways Polaris was a better ski.

1) When they wanted more than 100... they added a 3rd cyl to make the engine more reliable. Lets face it... the 951 isn't the worlds best engine... and in the first year... they were eating themselves, and the were probably all replaced under warranty. The polaris 1200 domestic (135 hp) is as rock solid as a Seadoo 720.

2) Polaris' "VTS" system was cable driven. So, if you got a seal leak... it didn't kill the motor.

3) They came from the factory with a stainless steel pump, and a Skat-Trak Swirl impeller

4) They came from the factory with hydro-turf

5) They came from the factory with a bilge pump. (most models)

6) The 2, 3, and 4 seat skis have a cool grab handle on the bars, so you can put a kid in front of the driver safely.

7) They have Keihin carbs, that use internal oil mixing. (a better system)

8) No fragile MPEM !!!!!!!

9) no chipped lanyards. If you wanted to lock the ski... you used a keypad on the gauge cluster.

OK... enough of that... and sorry to take it off topic... but I don't like bashing of any brand. (that makes us as bad as GH) Seadoo makes a very nice ski... but it's far from the best in many respects. But... since they were the original "Sit-Down" PWC... they have always been the most popular.

As far as "Polaris stopped making skis".... let's not forget that seadoo just stopped making boats. Does that make seadoo boats cr@p???? No. It just means that some bean counter said they weren't making a profit.

(sorry for all that)

Thanks doc actually helps me more if I would look at it. Trying to convince my fiances dad to get it. He told me to find him a good ski he could have a ski and boat for his family within a small budget

I will agree that polaris had some good things on them.

I will say that many are a total PITA to work on. I remember my 96 SLX was a TOTAL PITA to get the carbs off.

I also couldnt keep from breaking my SL 700 ride plate....ended up shattering all the stringers in that boat.

The domestic iginitions were total crap...they had like 4 updates to try to fix it.

Their fast hulls werent chit to seadoos....although kawis sucked much worse.

I currently have the coolest model they ever made...2000 Pro 785 with the factory triples. The thing just GROWLS!! Its for sale...high price to hopefully get to ride it one more time this year.

OOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!

YES. That was the ski that said..... "Hey seadoo..... here's my @$$$.... kiss it !!!" (LOL)

OK... that took the 800 runabout class in a totally new direction. I think they were getting 160 HP out of that "800" class engine. (CRAZY)

I had a VERY clean Pro 1200 come up for sale close to me... and I almost got it. BUT... I would have had to sell my XP to keep it.

Now.... Minitonka... I mostly agree with what you said. But...

1) The only real fragile thing on the ski's was the "LR" unit. (start/stop/power/regulator) In 99 and 2000, they were bad. BUT... you can still buy one, and they are only $120. When I bought my Genesis... it needed replaced.

2) Yes, there was some ignition issues, on the Domestic... but... they would GIVE you the update. (think seadoo would give you a free part for a +5 year old ski without an extended warranty?)

3) Speaking of parts... Polaris continued to make NEW parts available up till last summer. So... they did parts support for 7 years after they stopped production. Seadoo wont' have a part 10 seconds after the ski is discontinued. Heck... last summer I ordered a new glove box seal for my genesis. $5 and 3 days later... I had it.

4) Not sure what was wrong with your SL... but I think there may have been prior damage. I don't recall any known hull/exterior probs.

5) you have to admit... the 3 cyl domestic engine runs VERY smooth, and makes good power.

6) If you decide to sell the 785... PM ME FIRST !!!!!!!!!

*****EDIT******

OK... I have to say sorry again. This isn't the topic, and I will refrain from more debate.

But guys... please don't take what I'm saying the wrong way. I love my seadoo's.... but there's nothing wrong with any of the other "Real" brands. I even found a little love in my heart for seadoo's bastard step child. (Merc powered boats)
