I'm trying to find out what folks with a strong /crisp running stock 1999 xpl got for the waterbox rave regulator setting. Also what are your settings for the main raves on the cylinders?
Mine are... raves upfront = closed
Waterbox regulator= 1.25 out from closed

... Im having a so not crisp response around 1/3 trottle opening and I am not sure if the above are the right settings, specially for the waterbox. Thanks fellow seadooers!

What do you mean by... "not so crisp at 1/3 throttle"??

Are you holding it at 1/3, and then smacking it open? OR... as you come though 1/3 throttle, it tries to stall, or has a dead spot??

The water regulator... for the most part... will run fine right at the factory settings... and it shouldn't be adjusted. If you run to much diverted... you will over heat the exhaust.

Lastly... if it's just a little flat at 1/3 throttle... turn your RAVES all the way in. If the problem is still there... then it's a carb/intake issue.

My vote is carb issue.

OSD parrts has a brand new set for like $400. (make sure to check the jets before bolting them on!)

that's what cured my 02 XP issues. you can rebuild all your like, but 10 year old carbs... are... 10 years old.

the water regulator really only comes into play at the higher RPMs. which 1/3 throttle it would not be.

what do the plugs look like?

I run the RAVES 1-2 turns out, but that's just my preference on my XP. they don't add/remove power, they just 'shift' it.

Noob Alert:

I didn't know you could adjust the raves, I pulled mine out, and cleaned them. And then put them back in. Is there a baseline adjustment I need to make sure of

/Noob.

Thanks, Chris
