I have a strong gasoline smell coming from under the gasket. Not sure if there was something there that goes under it so when its closed you dont get the smell like an o-ring or anything. Any others with the same issue?.

I apologize, sometimes my English is not too good specially after a long hard day at the office...I'm fried. I meant to say the gas cap. The smell comes from there and even when its tight it still comes out. Dont know if there should be something there to press against the cap when closed.

nice...there isn't one. I'll see where I can get/make one. thnx!

Just for a reference... post a pic of your fuel cap, and filler neck, open, so I can see the threads. if its the same as mine... I'll send you one. I had to buy a bag of them.

Whew! I was afraid he meant the gasket under the engine compartment cover. I would hate to have a strong gas smell coming out of there. Leaking gas tank or fuel line can end up being a mess...

Thanks to all for your replies and assistance...i'll get a pic of it tomorrow as I turned the boat back to base (storage) for the week.
