98 challenger leaking water where carbon seal should be

So the motor rpm would go to 6k super fast and when I checked the motors there was water coming in. I thought it was the carbon seal but I don’t see the normal carbon seal and metal surface. The boot was tore off it as well. It looks like the c clip is anbout ann inch anway from the metal mating surface. It just looks like something is way off or messed up. Any help would be great. Thanks

That is an older style system called a carrier bearing. There is maintenance involved with that system where you pump grease fairly regularly into the grease fitting that is missing on your bearing (that threaded hole in the larger collar). also there should be a rigid composite tube joining the bearing to the fitting that is in the hull. You called it a boot...the boot is for the carbon ring system. this is more of a heavy rubber tube that is used. It looks like the fitting into the hull is broken or pulled out. the sealant has come off the hull....make sure that black fitting is tight and sealed to the hull. you can go back to the carbon ring system if you want. nothing wrong with the carrier bearing system if you keep up with the grease.

The fitting that come into the hull has a hole in it. Can it be replaced? I can’t find that part.
I believe the bearings are shot so would u suggest getting a new carrier bearing or just go with a carbon seal.

Does it not look like the bearing seized and tore apart the hull? @rusty nail
Is it fixable? If so can someone let me know what seal or boot I should get. The rubber tube that goes over the carrier bearing has a hose clamp on each end and it was ripped apart. I think the bearing froze up and that’s why it ripped. I’m not sure what I can do to fix the seal that the hose attaches to. I circled in yellow where the seal was leaking

I’m pretty sure it’s fixable, not sure how to fix it, but pretty sure it’s fixable. Maybe someone here has done it and will chime in but in the meantime you could search and see what you come up with. When I’m searching the forum, I go to google then type in my search term, in this case I would type seized carrier bearing then type “site : Seadooforum.com” this will give you results only from the forum.

Thanks for the input. Are you guys saying that that black seal circled in red is actually part of the fiberglass? It was mainly leaking from that hole and where the crack is in the black boot. It didn’t appear to be leaking from any of fiberglass or the hull area.

So once I figure out the repair I then have to decide if I go with bearings or the carbon seal. What is everyone thoughts on this? Pros vs cons!

I don’t mind greasing or doing regular maintenance however, I’ve only had about a month and before purchasing it was supposedly serviced by a reputable Sea-Doo mechanic.

Someone did a hack job on that.
The black part is the broken fiberglass.
You are missing the rubber connector.
The grease zerk is missing.
